Ok so a friend invited me to meet up with his buddies last weekend for my 1st run in Elbe. I had a blast! Problem is it took 3hrs to leave camp and we only wheeled for 2.5hrs. WTF if I'm gonna go I wanna go. I live in Spanahood and looking for a club that would take a trail rookie. A club that friggen enjoys wheeling. From what I learned Sat. I seem to bet set up ok. Just ordered a bunch of misc. crap from Marlin and though I didn't call Bobby this week I hope to get and install some Long's by next weekend. Then we're ready to rock(literally).

Just post up when you want to go wheelin and where. Most times other folks will speak up and offer to join.

**** I might of gone to elbe if I knew.:awesomework:

I dont know if you are new to the hobby, but ya usualy have to run trails with all kinds of different people, the ones ya like get there number and call em up. Then after a year you have a close group that you like and they like you.

Like any hobby it just takes a little time.

I belong to 2 differant clubs and 1 you MUST work @ Boeing or a sub contractor to Boeing. The second club is White Knuckle4x4 club, great group of people, club requires prospective members to attend 1 club meeting, 1 region meeting and 2 runs before offically getting voted in. http://www.whiteknuckle4x4.org

All that just to go ****in wheel

I wouldn't want to jump through any hoops just to go wheel either.

It took me years to find a good group of guys who were fun AND have their **** together. In the past my friends rigs would fall apart all the time while out on the trail, usually a problem they knew about but were to lazy to address and then it becomes everyones problem. THAT is frustrating. Or then I would find guys with capable rigs but they would shy away from hard stuff, fearing body damage. thats pretty anoying too. Now, years later, I'm a lucky guy with the best buds a guy could ever hope to wheel with. No club needed

THANK YOU!!!

You don't have to join a club to get a lot of wheeling in! Our "group" can get a lot of wheeling done in a day or MAYBE one full trail, It depends on how much we stop and talk or how much ground we are wanting to cover... No club required. :awesomework:

Clubs are for baby seals and Emo kids.

Truer words have never been posted... If you need everything in your life politicized and to be led around on a fawking string so you can wheel then a club is for you.

I wheel when I want with who I want simple as that. No "home" club to bitch about who I go out with or to sneer at me for wheeling somewhere they don't like to go. ****'m all I'll never join a club, I don't need it I have a large group of friends and we all wheel about the same. :D

I thought you were the prez of the "We got a camera, Club"

Say Cheese!

Nope I'm not the president of anything. I am affiliated with ORV trail watch to turn in assbags that think it's a good idea to go spin doughnuts in a muddy meadow though. I'm not the type to go out looking for people to turn in for some self gratifying reason though. I hate to do it but if you are wrong you are wrong.

Sounds like a club to me just without the responsibilitys or decals:haha:. Clubs arnt for everyone by any means but on the other hand there great for creating lifelong friendships and relationships as well as a sense of belonging to something good.

Hit the nail on the head right there.

Clubs

Clans

Tribes

Churches

etc...

They're all the same, for people who "need" to belong...don't quite understand what drives that need yet though?

I knew you of all people would understand :cheer::awesomework: just change the "need" to want and your dead on:awesomework:

Every time someone starts a club thread you hear the same things like I wheel too hard for clubs, clubs are dumb, you don't have to be a wheeler to be in a club, bla bla bla.

Our club was started by a group of friends hanging out in a garage who decided to start a club built for us, to be something we wanted to be a part of. We have no rules that say all members can only run with other club members or you can't wheel with us if your not a member. But we look out for ourselves first for trail runs- not meaning we wont help someone out if they're not a member, but if we are having a club run that we don't want to get too big we will only invite club members before inviting non members. And yes, we have an initiation process but that's just as much for the candidates as it is for the members. What if they don't like what we run or how we handle ourselves out on runs, they can drop out before they become members and vice versa. It also allows us to see how well they maintain their rigs, if someone dosen't like to do maintenance on their rigs and breaks down on every run, then I personally don't want to wheel much with them for fear of having to work on their shitbox all day.

Clubs aren't for everyone. However, I don't see the need to bash clubs. Our membership has doubled since we started. A lot of the people who joined I would not have met otherwise. I appreciate because of the club I know some people that normally I'm not sure we would have hung out.

Alright!!!!!!!! Didn't mean to open a can of worms here. I think we can agree that there are many kinds of clubs out there, from Over the top Christians that don't like scratches to drunken hillbillies that don't like sheet metal or rules. But, thats why there are so many clubs, whatever you're into there seems to be a group of people like you. That's all I'm looking for. I like to wheel, would like to wheel mostly at Elbe as it's close to me, I'm not opposed to working a trail clean up or volunteering once in a while. Yes I like beer and profanity, Yes I have a lead foot and a shitty attitude. No, dents don't scare me but I will follow the trail so they are not shut down. I think there are many here like me. I don't need to be in a club but I would like to find a solid group with similar interests. If that makes me:rb: **** You!

Not really, but hey, that's your view. :awesomework: We don't REQUIRE anything of our "members". Show me a club that doesn't require anything. I am not familiar with clubs, so I have no idea what they require...
