This is the real reason Bombshell exists. There's almost no big-tire buggies up here in PA. At the only park around, you are required to ride with someone else. Two rig minimum, so we were stuck with whoever showed up that day. After the 30th time of being forced to wheel with stock Jeeps with street tires, spotting each other over rocks half the size of a bowling ball, and us playing recovery vehicle all day, plans were made to get me a riding partner!

That statement is the truth.

I don't understand the disgust with offroad clubs. I'm not personally interested in mega trucks, what they can do is impressive but I don't put them down for playing in the mud.

We ususally break off into group of like rigs on a ride. The guy on 33's does not want to hit the same trails as the guy in the buggy on 42's and vice verse.
I truly believe I could take most anyone on this forum with the exception of true hill killing buggies and put them with a group from the club I am it and they would have a great time on the trails. That could be the guy just getting into the hobby or the driver that wants to test himself and one of use ends up yardsaleing and spilling cooler water.
We may end up by the fire complaining about groups trying to destroy our hobby (and country) and have a meeting together.
Just remember that when you see another group out on the trails that they are also the same ones that want to see the hobby, sport prosper. We have enough groups out there trying to restrict or close places to ride.
We don't need to dispute among ourselves.

Haha!! Oh don't worry. I can assure u they felt bad, and Prob wanted to go home . Ha! They had to!! I can't imagine being your partner and being in a stock jeep. Hahahah that's funny ****. I can picture yAll comin through the woods like a beast.. Right on the bumper of a slow Jk., with a lesbo Dr or nurse driving the JK of course ! (Seems to be popular in the lesbo crowd) haha. God I bet You have been super pissed in the woods with that rule!!! **** man.

Yeah the great thing about the wheeling community (for the most part) is that we're all a bunch of good folks who are out there because we love the hobby. Pretty much everyone seems to be willing to lend a hand when needed. I'm in a club and we try to organize 1 ride a month. Personally I enjoy it. We have as much fun around camp as we do on the trails and we've all got everyone's back when needed. I've towed and been towed back to camp several times, and that's what it's all about. But I also go riding with like minded friends I've met on the trails as well and have just as much fun as my club rides.

I narrow it down like this.. I'm cool with different clubs and their personalities, different music that gets blasted, different vehicle capabilities, etc etc etc. There's only 1 type of person I will not tolerate and that's a thief. If you want something, save your money and go buy it. If I catch you stealing from me or any of my group of friends it's gonna be a problem.

I don't understand why there isn't more hard-core wheelers in Pa. When I do drive through there I can see the potential in the terrain and it makes me wonder. Eastern ohio is the same way.

OT. I won't ride with someone who won't wear a seat belt. I have no desire to be there when a dumbass falls out of their rig and gets crushed.

#1 rule in my rig is to strap in and keep your **** inside. Nothing will ruin not just the ride you're on but your friends rides for years to come like having to haul your body out. I've stupid accidents bite me hard while not being strapped in for something as simple as winching a friend out.

i ride with one about once or twice a year. they are all bolt on and mine is getting to not be that way. They got mad becasue at Hale i tired to go through this big knotch and one guy actually threw a fit and walked off. Later i heard talk of me being a show off for trying it. Hell i just wanted to go that way and see if i could make it (i didnt btw i got denied hard). I need some more guys to wheel with i dont go enough but my jeep is in the gray area. i'm still on 35's but dont mind following the guys on 38's or 40's.

i do see the jk jeep club bull **** at AOP all the time and it's annoying though.

I went on a ride to Harlan a couple years ago, with a club, never again. Anyways we were going up white tail, the leader told his crew that if you don't have 37's or bigger, you had to take the easy way out half way up. Now, it may just be me, but unless you paid for my rig or pay for the repairs, ain't nobody gonna tell me where I can take my rig that I pay for. I just thought that was a freaking joke.

I don't know the particulars of your rig or the others with you, but maybe he didn't want to babysit or have a Warn demonstration with the 33" guys... :dunno:

I'm with Travis on this one! I have a rig on 33s and I have done some stupid stuff in it. Its not up to anyone to tell me what trails I can and can't ride. I decide therefore I ride sans club!!

Not much of a club guy anymore. Im still part of a small club out of oliver springs, tn kinda... im the "club" member who shows up to 1 meeting a year and dont pay dues. The guys I wheel with all the time are my best friends even outside of riding then theres guys I wheel with whenever our schedules match but are still friends of mine. Its easier that way. No BS, just good dudes that wanna ride the hard stuff.

In our club we get a lot of people that join that have never been off road before. They really like the fact that we do monthly trail rides and help spot people through parts of the trail that they don't feel comfortable with. These rides give them a chance to see how capable jeeps are, even if they are completely stock. After a couple rides many of them either start making a list of upgrades they want to do to make, or they decide offloading isn't for them. My Jeep started out with all stock running gear and 32" tires. Now it's on Dana 44's, twin sticked Dana 300 with a T-18 tranny and 37" stickies. I know it doesn't compare to the level of builds of many of the Jeeps on this forum, but it does pretty good for what it is.

Of course it gets aggravating at times when I end up in a group of mostly stock Jeeps that have never been off road, but I just try to be patient and help them to learn what this sport is all about. I had a good group of guys in the club that helped me when I first joined so I try to do the same for others. I even volunteered as "trail ride director" a few years back. During that year I decided to start taking groups to "Hard Rock", the closest thing we have to mountains here in Florida, so that more and more people would be exposed to rocks instead of just the normal forest trails and mud bogs. Now many of the members ride there every few months and are getting very valuable "seat time" for when they make it up to one of the off road parks that most of you wheel everyone weekend.

When I joined in 2003 I had never driven on mountains trails as I have lived in Florida for my entire life. After my first trip to River Rock in 2005, we made half a dozen trips back to River Rock and Morris Mountain within a year and a half. A typical trip to any park in the Southeast is 400+ miles and cost me over $500 just in fuel, so I don't get to ride as often as I would like to out of state. We've got a small group of us in the club that wheel together quite a bit and hit most of the trails wherever we go. We don't beat the crap out of our Jeeps, but aren't afraid to get a few dents and scratches either. Last year we followed a group of buggies up trail 43 at AOP. Obviously they had a little different driving style with their 40"+ tires, 1 ton axles and lack of body panels, but the fact that we did all the "black" trails there should give you an idea of the Jeeps that I wheel with. I got hung up and had to winch in two spots, but my buddy in a TJ on 35's only winched once. I think its funny how some of the guys with their fully built rigs and buggies with big motors look at us when they see us pull up on the trails in our Jeeps. It's also funny to see their faces when we follow them just about every where they go. I remember one time at Morris Mountain when a bunch of guys were sitting around because Randall had broken a knuckle off his Jeep on Hammer Down. A few others guys were beating on their rigs trying to get up and we basically idled up and went right around them in our little Jeeps.

Like others have already stated, we may not all agree on the whole "club" thing, but we have to all be unified and support this sport if we want to continue having places to ride.

The mentality right now is that you have to have a 500+ horsepower, rear steer buggy on stickies to run any trail in the southeast. However, I have straight up embarrassed some people in my samurai on 31's with lockers and gears on obstacles that I had no business trying.

i'm a member of Dixiecrawlers based out of middle TN, and it's been great. We have club trips, food, tools etc and usually end up double towing with each other to save fuel. Some of the members have great fab skills or own repair shops so it's really been handy for me who entered this hobby with minimum skills. Learned tons of great stuff and they have almost all ended up being good friends of mine, lots of us have similar interests with hunting/fishing/lake/guns so it's fun. Almost like a little f&^ked up family

Most of us are all now running jeeps with V8,tons, and 40+ tires but we have a few guys running smaller tires and D44's
