On another note Dave Cole needs to pull those ****ing "life accomplishment" folks off the coarse when race time comes. Those people have no business being out there. Put there **** back on the trailer and do what they do best spectate.

Just my measly little 2 cents worth. :dunno:

I think the three main things to get a finish at KOH is

#1...A race proven car that you know from one end to the other,prepped and prepped again.

#2..A driver that WANTS IT not just there for the BIG SHOW.
The sand hill videos shows how bad some WANT IT !

#3..$$$$ MONEY $$$$ to get there a week early. $$$$ not to show off but to be there to pre-run ,pre-run and maybe pre-run again,know the course. $$$$ to buy the parts there you never thought would break. $$$$ to have one hell of a pit crew. I could go on and on

Bottom line is that everything goes your way for an entire race. :****:

If everything goes good for the 4433 crew this year we will be prepped and ready.............Now we just got to get them mounted and run through Jiffy Lube for a fluid change!!!!

It really does seam that$$$$$$$ is one of the key things. Even in the EMC race its all high$$$$ rigs.

As for richie and team plowboy, i really hope to see him run a couple of the eastern races over the next year. From what footage i did see the rig was performing as good as it ever has (maybe better ).

As for RWR i am a big fan! Cant wait to see what they come up with for a new rig, i would really like to see the team itself build a car( not farm it out to a shop)!! To me that would be the biggest acomplishment you could have, biild your own rig and race it!

Randy broke a 35 spl front shaft before qualifying, and only had a single spare for that side. Swapped it and ran it all week. He had a spare DS, rear axle shaft, and spare tires. Beyond that, he used the Dust Junkies to pit, friends and family ran his radios & relay. Clean driving makes up for lack of spares. Building it right the first time makes up for lack of spares. All throwing $$$$$ at a race car does is make for more expensive breaks down the line if you don't know how to handle the power or the capabilities of those parts.
 
Compared to the other 2 announcers I didn't mind Tripp. I REALLY got tired of hearing all the put downs of the southern rigs.

For those that have been out there what is it really like as far as the west-east coast thing? Is it a lot trash talking that goes on or was all that talk just for the back door shootout?

I agree 100% driver, and knowing the rig is the key factor, i guess just seeing all of the $$$$$$ being thriwn at these rigs, makes you wonder if a budget rig could still be competitive.
 
id like to see plowboy make a good showing also, It seems like he is just throwing money away, but maybe its just hard lessons learned making it to play with the top competitors. as said before it is an all out dedication to be in that race.
im a fan either way of our east coast guys and I think the east vs. west thing might be settling a little. East has guys competing on there turf, I don't see many of the westerns coming to play on our hills.

I'm from TN/MS, live in CA now. I didn't hear much **** talking, honestly the west coasters were happy to see that many bouncers make the trip out and run the shootout from what I saw. Tripp was annoying as ****, and embarrassing to listen to as a southerner. Both announcers were drunk/drinking, but Tripp was flat out retarded on the mic. Calling for guys to drive back down Backdoor after their run, etc.. Both U4 and bouncers had issues in the shootout but guys not making it past the gatekeeper is dumb. PRERUN LIKE YOU RACE. The put downs on bouncers that I heard seemed to be fairly deserved, shock tuning being the main thing. Beyond that, pin it to win it. thumb.gif

What is your budget?

You will NOT win KOH with a trail rig these days. Period. To think of running KOH without a healthy 500+ hp V8, built trans & tcase, 300m shafts and fabricated housings is dumb, and you will become a trail tampon.

In regards to the $$ being tossed around, that's what happens when larger sponsors get into the sport. If someone offers free tires, that's $3-6k that can go towards other parts. It's a snowball effect, sponsors get other sponsors. You won't get anyone to give you money if you're trying to run KOH like a trail ride. It's a race, plain and simple. Be there to win, or race on Thursday.

If you build the car yourself, you 'pay' less for labor. That turns a $150k car into a $70k car pretty quick. Parts that hold up are expensive, multiple spares of cheap parts add up even quicker. New cars can go straight to 40 spline stuff, learn from what others break and don't repeat their mistakes. Shocks make the car fast, motors bring it up to speed. Desert driving is not just pinning the throttle, you have to feather it in the whoops to reduce shock loads and save the car.
