So my 39's fit fine on the truck on 15x7 rims, my 36s are on the same size rim, but rub on my TRE... I know it's because of the shorter side wall and the bulge. the rim offset is 3.75" on both sets. So My question is, would it cure my clearance issue on the 36s to put DIy beadlocks on these rims, would that be enough to puch the bulge OUT and AWAY from the TRE???:eeek: It's just BARELY rubbing as it is, but it'd def. cause some issues if ran for a long time this way, I can spin the tire but you can hear it rubbing and it left a mark from driving it up and down the cul-de-sac once, nothing deep or catastrophic.

OR, would a set of 15x8s with a 3.75" backspacing cure it too? Either one is gonna cost the same, and i''d rather have a set of beadlocks, PLUS the beadlocks would give me the 15x8 width anyways... So Ithink my decision is made for me, but i want someone to maybe give me that push to get beadlocks now...:redneck: :haha:

And do they make the pro comp black rock crawlers in different offsets? I checked their website and all i saw was 3.75" and 4.5" :eeek:

Thanks.

Try using a small spacer. I ran two flat washers under the wheel on all five lug nuts once. It worked fine. Eventually, I switched to a different set of tires and wheels.

When my tire was aired down, the bulge was primarily at the bottom, and the tierod end -v- tire actually increased in clearances. But at street pressure, it would ever so slightly rub.

Good luck

Make sure if you do this, that you still have plenty of thread engagement on the lug nuts, don't want the wheel to fall off.

edit - and you can order steel wheels from Les Schwabbbie with any offset you want. Just have them special made. Costs about the same, only takes a few weeks to get them.

no spacers anymore for me = no washers

I seem to have an issue with spacers....:redneck: :haha:

Back space never changes. Do a 15x8 beadlock and you will be happy. Better do it before this weekend, Once you air down you WILL have interferance of the negative kind.

Who's steering arms are you running?

KOZ Offroad.... I'm not super pleased with them...

It was the same brand of arm I had you ream out about a year ago, because i couldn't get a cotter pin through it, same reason I should come up today....

which btw....:corn: Call me if I can come up. I am free right now....

the 39s are ok though, or are you saying that those aired down will cause me problems???

And ya, the back space wont change, but the bulge might is what i am getting at, the difference between a 15x7 and a 15x8 with a 3.75" back space and the way the tire bulges might be a tad different, it pulls the center of the tire (in theory) 1/2" over, I just dont know if that's gonna be enough... of if it'll work...:eeek:

Any one got a 5x5.5",15x8, 3.75" B.S. rim they wanna lend out for a weekend?!?!:redneck:

If the tire bulg is what hits then yes, weld on beadlocks will cure it. They will pull the outside of the tire away from the inside.

ya, i just wonder if it'll be enough...:eeek:

I dont know how much it moves the outer bead...? if it's more than 1/2" It should work, plus i get beadlocks!!!:cheer:

Figure the thickness of the bead plus about 1/2" and you'll be in the ballpark.

Ok, that should prolly be enough, because I mean it is BARELY rubbing right now, as in , when you spin the tire, it makes a squeaking noise....and left a scuff on the sidewall, like a tree root scuff would look like...

My 44 with 5 pounds in it is at least 1 inch away from the steering arm. If it gets down to 3-4 pounds the tire will touch it. Granted its alot more sidewall than yours....But it would be a stupid way to loose a tire. I have some 1/4 inch spacers if you want to borrow them for this weekend.

yep, but once aired down, and as the carcus of the tire flexes. it will more than touch.

order up some new wheels, with 3" backspace, then add the weld-on beadlocks.:awesomework:

exactly.
i had my wheels custom made. just black steelies. but they were set-up how i wanted them. im not sure now..i think maybe 10" with 3.5 backspace?? whats standard for 10" wheel?

3.75 is pretty much standard backspace for anything in a 15". You can go up to 2.75 without being a reverse center but once you hit 2.5 it's gonna be reversed...

You can order up a set of black 15X8's with 2.5" backspacing, this would give you the clearance you need...even aired down!!!!:awesomework:

gotta be careful going to little backspace. you will start throwing the inner bead. a buddy had 10"s, with 2.5 backspace, and beadlocks. we lost the inner bead MANY times.

8"s with a 2.5 would probably be OK tho....unless you add on the weld-on locks. then ur just almost at the 10" mark. and my buddies popped(inner) off all the time.
i had some custom 8"s made too. cant remember if they were 2.5 or 3", but no beadlocks. i very RARELY popped the bead off.

reverse centers with beadlocks is fawking RETARDED. The outer is the weak bead from the start and adding a beadlock to it makes sense. But if you put the STRONGER of the tow beads on the outside then a beadlock you leave the inner new weaker bead to fall off randomly.

I ran 2.5" backspaced 15X8's w/ my 33X13.5X15" LTB's and only lost a bead one time in 2yrs, running 7-8psi....I agree that it'd not be a good idea to beadlock a reverse-centered wheel..... just giving boonie an option, although he'd not get the locks he so dearly wants this way...
