Anyone know where you can get an oil pressure issolator? The issolator is so you don't have actual oil running into the cab, fire hazzard. Years ago I know summit used to sell one but I can't find it.

Any help??

You can switch to an electric guage.
I've ran copper lines on my guage for years, no leaks. I wouldn't worry about it.

Never heard of such a thing.

As tony said though copper line or an electronic guage.

I've seen the kit once.... once...

I'll have to do some digging and when I find I'll let you guys know.

So its just an apapter at the motor with a braided hose..

$100 too--dang the copper tubing would sound alot better, lol.

What it does is it keeps hot flameable oil from entering the cab. IRCC it uses some sort of mineral oil or something for the fluid. Basically its like a diaphram that feeds the guage..

No it's a isolator.....I've heard of these before but never used one so let us know how well it works.
I'm with these guys, I just use copper tube and solder all connections. You still have the chance of the gage itself failing though.

Ok I see the concept now--engine oil pushes on another oil--gotcha.

:scratchhead:

Is it just me or wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to put an electric gauge in:eeek: $100 isolator + mechanical gauge = price of electric gauge.

I would like to here of your findings, i.e. was it really worth it?

The only way I could see it being worth it is if you spent good $$$ on a nice mechanical guage.

anywhere that can get autometer stuff can get these kits they are $130 though. you can get a non mechanical guage for that price

I can't agree more.

But, I want to say an Autometer mechanical is like $60 and the electric is about $150 IIRC, I would prefer to wire the gauge instead of plumb the gauge. This is just my preference.

I am with you--I HATE mechanical guages....

Me too. I like digital but this is customer wants the cheap guage he's already using to stop leaking oil on him. So I try and talk him into a digital but he doesn't want to spend the coin on one. Instead he wants to go this route.

I like the isolator idea or electric also... with that said, I also use copper in anything I install a mechanical guage into, and have never had an issue...but as binder said, the guage could fail and leak...

That's what was happening with this customer. His gauge filled with oil and leaked all over his leg.

then the isolator would not work, because the isolation oil would leak all over his leg.

get a cheap electric gauge, or simply put in a dummy light switch and a dummy light.
