Oil pressure isolator??

That's what was happening with this customer. His gauge filled with oil and leaked all over his leg.

If the guage has filled with oil, it's doubtful that it reads accurately. Hence, replace the guage with a quality one, run copper tubing and don't bother with the Isolater-thingie.

then the isolator would not work, because the isolation oil would leak all over his leg.

get a cheap electric gauge, or simply put in a dummy light switch and a dummy light.

It could yes. But wouldn't you prefer luke warm clean fluid, vs. hot oil??? Plus the clear fluid is not likely to leak and if it did the leak would be very minimal. without it and running one with out, techinically it could pump all the oil in the pan or until the pump runs dry.

I think I'd run the isolator or go electric.

.

Technically? Yeah maybe. But it'd take forever. That tube barely holds a fraction of an ounce of oil. It's f'n tiny. To pump 5 quarts thru a tube that tiny, with only 20 or 30 pounds of pressure would take a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOnnnnnnnggggg time. It'd be like trying to suck one of those superbowl Gaterade buckets thru a straw.

No, once the isolation oil leaks out, the thing wouldn't work anyways. You'd have to refill it.

Bandaid, expensive high tech solution to a low tech problem.

The problem is the faulty gauge.

Throwing money at it isn't going to make it better.

Replace the gauge with a better one, or just get the same gauge but a new one that doesn't leak.

OVERCOMPLICATED

kiss. Joop are you such a bad mechanic that you dont trust you own line connecting abilities?

In a world where guys are running plastic brakelines (Idont trust), you dont trust a copper line?

Chevy truck have been using hardline oil pressure lines for decades.

OK listen up and pay attention, you seem to assume to damn much and you don't know jack ****.

First off. I'm not a mechanic. I'm the manager. My wrenching days only pertain to my rigs.

Second the customer comes into my shop has me come out and look at his hooky rig set-up. He comes in asking why he has hot oil squirting on his leg. I go take a look at this abortion.

I tell him first off this is the wrong set-up. You should never have hot, flameable oil pumping into the cab with plastic lines. Ideally you need an issolator kit.

Now just because you guys think using a copper line is the easy fix, which it is, doesn't mean its done right or safe.

The proper and safe way is to use the issolator kit. You don't see Nascar, drag cars or anything with an tech inspection running a copper line or plastic lines. There is a reason for this. Look it up. I don't feel like educating you again..

In my line of work we are responsible for our work and safety of the job afterwards. I do it right or don't do it at all.

Same works for people who come in and ask for a pad slap, not going to happen, goto bucky's if you want a pad slap.

I can't believe the ignorance of some of you guys. :kissmyass:

Throwing money at it isn't going to make it better. Wrong!!! Obviously it's going to fix it.

Never in this thread did I ask anyone how to fix it. I simple asked where can I find this kit. Which only 1 or 2 of you actually knew what I was talking about. The rest of you can. :kissmyass:

I am goin to assume the rig is worth less than the complicated system that the MANAGER suggested puttin it to fix it.

This is like suggesting his exhaust be tig welded because its the best way to do it.

I got a D70 for ya. $375

You sir are an idiot.

$375 for a d70, what is made of gold?? You can pick those up all day long for $100-150. How can you sleep at night knowing your ripping people off. :flipoff:

And no this is in a Honda Passport.. Why he has a damn gauge in the first place I have no idea.

How is a copper line not right or safe? its the right way to do it. Its also safe. Ive never seen a chev truck recal for bad oil lines. As a manager if I brought in a chevy truck with a damaged line, would you replace it with the factory setup or talk them into retrofitting it with a majigger?

COPPER will pass tech easy. PLASTIC wont. ever raced? I passed tech everytime.

for the record, real race cars have gauges onthe cowl. Cheap and safest.

Tell him you need to mount his gauge on the cowl.:corn:

Normally they are 75-100, but that is avg joe price. I had no idea you were a manager. Manager prices are completly different at my yard.:kissmyass::beer:
