Guy is selling a CJ radiator that should fit my jeep for $50. Compare this to a new one from Autozone for $180. The jeep is getting parted out and has been sitting for quite a while getting rusty and the guy says it holds liquid but could prolly use a comple flushes from sitting.

Is it worth it to hassle with, or is this one of those things I really should not eff with and buy new. Help me make my decision.

pressure test it. If it hold's, then go for it. If its all corroded up, pass.

Look inside of it and look at any point where it is soldered together (tubes to header, header to tank, inlet/outlet to tank, radiator cap neck to tank, and trans fittings) for white calcium deposits. If it is minimal inside the tubes and not on the soldered points, go for it. Any calcium on the solder will become a leak.

Bet you can guess what I do everyday:mad:

please don't buy a used/old radiator... it is in NO way worth it.... EVER!

Too much of a risk, you will feel much better KNOWING you have a good reliable rad. than worrying about it every second with a used/old one:mad:

I just bought a used radiator. From a reputable off road shop and they promised me it had been pressure tested. It leaked- badly. Fortunately I was able to solder it up (at midnight before a wheeling trip) and its still working a few trips later but I don't expect it to last long.

Save the hassle and buy a new one :awesomework:

It isn't worth ****. If you're that broke, offer him $25 and go wheelin'. If it gets hot or explodes, $25 down the shitter. I wouldn't risk it for $50.

Ya, $25 down the shitter:rolleyes: .... not to mention the head gaskets that are sitting in your lap...:looser:

worse. broke and itching to wheel. :booo: :booo: :booo:

That combined with shitbox 2nd hand parts will still leave you broke & itching to wheel.

Better off spending the money on a hooker...that way, at worst, all you'll do is just itch :haha: :haha: :fawkdancesmiley:

You be out wheelin' without a temp gauge, I oughta kick you in da nuts :eek2:

The good ol' Regurgitator just fountains a little when she gets too hot to alert me :fawkdancesmiley:

Of course with a hooker, weif'll break me so either way I end up itching and either way I end up broke.

Now which path seems more fun... This will take some pondering :redneck::redneck:
