What's y'alls opinions on this buggy?
I'd sell the 37's for some 40's.
My only concerns are the 4.0 6cyl, tranny, and the Toy driveshafts. But the thing has to be light as can be.
And down the road I could swap the inline6 for SBC power. with a GM tranny to the 3.8Atlas, if need be.
No idea on the links....
Whats you guys thoughts on price? He's currently got it offered at $20k. I don't think thats too bad for a turnkey rig, especially if you could get him to $18k or so.

Specs are as follows:

100% custom chassis. Main "frame rails" are 2"x4"x.120 wall rectangle tube. The rest of the chassis is 100% DOM tube. Most of it is 1.5"x.120 wall. There is some smaller DOM tube mixed in. Very strong, straight chassis.

Narrowed front Dana 60. High pinion, 5.38 Motive gears Eaton Electric locker. 35 spline inner and outer shafts, drive flanges.

Narrowed rear Dana 60. 5.38 Motive gears, 35 spline shafts, disk brakes, welded differential. I have a spool that I could replace the welded diff with if necessary. There was a different locker in the rear and I put in a welded diff during a competition and liked it so much I never took it out.

Low mileage 4 liter inline 6 cylinder fuel injected engine.

32RH 3 speed automatic transmission. This is the same as a Torque Flite 999, but with a crank position sensor for a fuel-injected engine. Very strong, very reliable transmission.

Atlas II 3.8 transfer case. Heavy duty 32 spline front output.

37x12.50x17 Maxxis Trepador sticky tires. Virtually 100% tread. They are very tough tires and you will not need a spare, but I do have a brand new matching unmounted spare that could be negotiated into the deal.

17" Champion aluminum beadlocks. Very nice beadlocks.
Sway-Away 14" coilovers. Dual rate springs with tenders.

Toyota CV front and rear drive shafts. Very strong, and capable of very high operating angles.

Warn HS9500i front winch. Amsteel Blue synthetic winch rope. The front winch is attached to the front axle to control the front suspension, but there is an aluminum fairlead that you can route the rope through to use the winch as a recovery device. You can use a snatch block to use the winch for recovery without disconnecting it from the front axle.
2000 pound rear winch to control the rear suspension. Amsteel Blue synthetic winch rope.
PRP suspension race seats.
4 point harnesses.
Rock Logic hydraulic assist steering.
High steer drag link, heavy duty, standard position tie rod. 1 ton Chevy rod ends.
Griffin aluminum radiator.
Ford Taurus electric fan.
12 gallon plastic fuel cell. Russell aluminum fittings, Russell aluminum fuel filter.
1/8" aluminum roof.
1/2" plastic boatsides and skid plate. Strong, light, and smooth.
BMW X5 hood and grill. Bling!
Functioning headlights!
Vacuum-boosted brakes.

Sweet ride. Looks well put together. When you getting it?? :eat:
Thats what I've been thinking about it for a little while.
I am actually thinking hard on this one Just wanting to get some other opinions.
I've been waiting for basically a very similiar rig but with Chevy power to show up. That hasn't happened for anything remotely near this price.

Now this is thing isn't full on tube, it has the 2x4 base frame, but that doesn't bother me much. i know where I can get my hands on some 40" reds with 90% tread for cheap. Then I could try to keep up with MattO and his Maxxis.........or just nut up all at the same time and get the 40" Creepy's.

Buggy looks good, you can't build that buggy for $20k

Only thing I'm not digging is the motor, good reliable motor but not exactly a tire spinnin monster

Any clue if this buggy used to be on like 18s or 20s on procomp tires?

I believe that's a different rig outta Des Moines, Iowa built by Des Moines Off Road.. but yes that one was on DUBS and some ProCrops

Rob, we think so much alike. Price yes, motor no.

I really like it other than the motor and steering. Tire size...meehhh! I bet it still does very well. Looks TITS also.

I know nothing of the trans, and the d-shafts are actually real stout if the tubing is nice and thick. I'd run 'em.

For the $$ I like it, but also think there is something more to your tastes out there for the same cash layout.

Wyatt, I think that drivetrain is solid. The box frame would not bother me a bit. I am with ya on the V8 power though. But like Ricky said that engine is more than enough for trail riding. Now if you were wanting to do XRRA with it then I would hold out for a V8. I swear I saw this rig on a WE Rock comp a while back. How old is this rig?

I think you would school MattO in this rig. :spin:

If you're serious about a buggy, you might give Randy at Jimmy's Outback 4x4 a call. They built a friend of mines new rig for VERY reasonable(McClure's new buggy)... Randy can make ways for a NEW buggy to be on the cheap by horse trading and using used axles, etc... This is the same shop that did Brian Shirley's Northstar Buggy (which wasnt so cheap)... You could get into a new buggy from them in the low to mid 20's.

... side note, this is an incredible buggy well worth the $$. Works awesome, I wheeled with Jeremy out at the Hammers and this thing flat out works. LS1 buggy :flipoff1:

Too bad it's $35k

Man, the guy who built that must be 8' tall!!

EDIT: just read the thread... 6'5. ;D

Yeah that thing has the parts, but damn I hate the looks of that buggy. I think if my head was big like Jay leno, and I was 6'5" and wearing a full on helmet then thats prolly the buggy.

Rob-
no doubt? Tell me more. Whats their timelines look like? I've only got one part really, and its a HP60 with 4.88's. I do have a 500HP 383 Stroker thats only been on a dyno stand, but I'd have to figure out FI if I ran it.

Yeah the AfterHours Diablo is where its at! But see how much more the price is, $35k...
Seems like there are some good buggys to be had from $15k-20k but they need work or **** changed. I think there is a Badass Badlands buggy on Pirate, but some jackass put a 1.8L Sami motor in it. WTF?

Or I may have to race Joel and snag that unfinished AZ buggy. DOH!!!
