Yeah that thing has the parts, but damn I hate the looks of that buggy. I think if my head was big like Jay leno, and I was 6'5" and wearing a full on helmet then thats prolly the buggy.

Rob-
no doubt? Tell me more. Whats their timelines look like? I've only got one part really, and its a HP60 with 4.88's. I do have a 500HP 383 Stroker thats only been on a dyno stand, but I'd have to figure out FI if I ran it.

Yeah the AfterHours Diablo is where its at! But see how much more the price is, $35k...
Seems like there are some good buggys to be had from $15k-20k but they need work or **** changed. I think there is a Badass Badlands buggy on Pirate, but some jackass put a 1.8L Sami motor in it. WTF?

Or I may have to race Joel and snag that unfinished AZ buggy. DOH!!!
That's what sucks, half the buggies out there are 4CYL!! I wouldnt mind a buggy with a 4CYL but dammit $15-20K for something without a little ass behind it is too much IMO.

As far as Jimmy's goes... I am not sure what their timelines look like but if you have parts already like that motor and axle... that really helps with the price. I know he does alot of horse-tradin on stuff and may have things around the shop like used coilovers or whatever to bring the price down on a turn key buggy. Their number is 970-565-8726... You'll probably get on the phone with Cottin (yess the XRRA Cottin) and they are usually way busy at the shop... so if that's the case.. have Randy give you a call back to pick his brain about a buggy. They are both really cool people...

I know man, WTF is with all the 4 & 6 cyl buggies. Or the bad ass ones with toy axles. Or the some kickass parts but then a Helen Keller chassis.

hey now! I'm buildin a bad-ass buggy with a 6cyl and toy axles... :flipoff1: BUT I'm gonna put the 6-er on the bottle and the toy axles will hold up to 40's...

Wyatt I agree for $$ get with Jimmy 's (Randy) and get what you want. He has mad horse trade skillz and gives you more options than you can imagine. Matt O has been talkin to him as well and from what all he has said, you plain cant beat that ish..

I dig the simple aspect and some of the parts list on this one... but I dont like to look at it so much..... just me. for the money, Id keep lookin.

Damn you fools know how to put a fire out. Thanks though. I think you're all right. Slow the fawk down. And either wait for something super close to what I'm looking for or get someone to build me one. Or start one and have someone finish it. or have Kelly start one, and I finish it. Since I know he hates wiring, plumbing and all that ****.

I saw it a while back, it does not have the big motor and all but it is a solid and unique rig

Randy is the cheapest source for sure for a nice buggy. He told me turn-key's start at 35k and that is with a lot of bling. 60s, 40" Creepies, WE or KMC Locks, Chevy 350, TH350, Atlas, etc.

I priced Twisted Customs for comparison and just to put all my parts under a buggy was 35k. But TC had me an itemized quote within 1 day of the entire breakdown and was super nice. Of course his was super bling, Art Carr trany, 5.3 pimped out to LS2 specs, etc. I am really just dreaming on that one because the TC rigs are the best looking IMO.

Man, the guy who built that must be 8' tall!!

EDIT: just read the thread... 6'5. ;D

This buggy just looks tall in the pictures. It was originally built for Adam Lunn aka Skinny. He is about 5'8" 120#

It is completely trashed. Stay away.

OK, my thoughts on the Beemer buggy.

Great deal for the price. I would not worry one tiny bit about the 6cly. That is a strong, tough motor, and as Ricky said, it is geared nicely. That rig with 37's will wipe the smile off most of the Rockwell/44ed 3 ton rigs running around Alabama. Sticky Trepadors are amazing tires and I did not see anything at Grey Rock that that buggy would not laugh at.

Toy Ujoints are as strong as 1350 joints. Use genuine Toy joints and they will laugh.

A fully custom buggy will cost you way more than this. Buying someone elses loss is the way to go. Buy it, beat it and let some other fool take the depreciation.

Finally, 4 and 6 cyl buggys are there because they are small and light. I, myself would have never traded my 350HP crawler for a 170 hp crawler had I not seen it spank every rigs ass in AZ with more HP under the hood. Sure, if I were to do it over, I would cacrifice the extra 300-400# to get the V8, but the 4 cyl I have right now will spank 99% of the obsticals out there and make it look easy. Why? Because it is light.

If you have the cash, this BMW rig is a great value. Don't be afraid of not having a V8. Saving the 1 to 2,000 pounds in weight will more than make up for the lack of two cylinders.

out of curiosity what do you mean by trashed?

Take a look at Haulin and Crawlin II and III. This rig is featured in both vids with Skinny behind the wheel and he punished it. Multiple hard rolls. Right before he sold it I wheeled with him in California and he tried to pawn it off on me. Just about every tube had some tweak, crack or dent. The motor was tired and the axles were tweaked and leaked.

Unless the new owner took it and rebuilt it (which I find highly unlikely since it still has the skins it was sold with) it is trashed.

I would like to have a light rig, but I really enjoy my pig and just having to beat the **** out of it. I think if I could just walk up everything, I would get bored.
I would like to have a buggy set up for XRRA. .

I don't get bored....I just back up **** or cut new lines.

I am not saying that a high HP, heavy rig is not capable as hell, I am just saying that the reason folks do 4 and 6 bangers is because they are light and most rock crawling is not high HP....especially competition stuff.

What this buggy was built for, and what you do with your rig should not even be considered the same sport. I have a 8 cyl in my jeep and could easily get by with a 6 cyl. I don't like the high horsepower point and shoot stuff. I would rather be a little more technical and crawl. I have seen your rig but have never really watched it work in person but I bet it's by choice that you beat the **** out of it, rather than necessity.

Yeah its defianetly by choice , it will crawl over technical stuff all day long. I just get bored easy plus I am not a very good driver. I use my jeep to take my anger out on, its my therapy.

I hope you keep doing it. I enjoy watching the videos.

Nolen, I think there can be a healthy mix... That's how I'm TRYING to build my buggy... We'll see how it works out. 6CYL instead of 4 so a little more go-go but still halfway lightweight... expecially with the toy axles...

Wyatt like I said you can't build that for this much $$, and NO rig is perfect.. only thing I don't like is the motor, but that's because I'm just not a inline 6 dude... It is a good deal, I don't think I'd committ to it without driving it, it's geared right for the motor and TARS... you'd really have to drive it to make a good call on it! 8) I wasn't tryin to tlak ya out of it, but ya it's better than that ackward rig skinny used to drive.
