Overheating Problem

Charlie if you are in Puyallup go to 112th st radiator right by Waller Rd. They sold me a brand new radiator for under $100. PM if you want more info.

ok m truck is really starting to piss me off... i cant make it 3 miles without it overheating.. ive replaced the tstat, waterpump, rad cap, fluid, fan clutch and hoses.. THE DAMN THING GETS WAY TOO HOT!! its flustering me.

i know i have a radiator that is going bad.. i have about a 2 inch section that stays cold when the rest of the truck is boiling. that shouldnt make me overheat tho right.. atleast not that fast? i figured it would get hotter but not overheat.. i need help(suggestions) because i just dont think its all my radiator...

thanks guys

Yes it will. IT's f'ing clogged solid. NO WATER IS FLOWING THRU IT. It's about as efficient as completely removing it from the truck and driving without a radiator.

If the radiator is even questionable, replace it or at least have it rodded out. With the truck being that age, who knows if it's ever even been replaced... I see so many toyotas with heat problems that are more than likely due to an old busted-ass radiator. they get build-up inside the tubes when they get old and the flow gets restricted and the heat transfer properties are affected by the buildup, and most times those stupid 5 dollar radiator flush kits won't do a damn thing. The rad is easy to replace, and you will be able to find one at just about any major auto parts store for around 100. :D

I had a similar problem on my truck. The bolt to adjust the alternator belt tension had come loose, and the belt was slipping but not squealing or anything. It was causing the pump to slip and not circulate enough coolant. I would check for that, and I would still replace the radiator, or AT LEAST have it flow tested. Also, make sure the coolant is mixed right, if its ALL coolant or something silly like that, it gets too hot pretty easy.

Crack cyl.head Have the cooling system tested for exhaust gasses. any good shop has the test bottle to check for this.
