Has anyone done this to their vehicle or trail rig? If so lets see some pics and tell us what u think of the performance and application.

You talking about the same plasti dip you use to dip tool handles in?

Re: Re: Plasti Dip your ride?

On a trail rig....I think itd be a waste. Its just too fragile.

Ive used it on my truck and car for accents, but not used it to paint a whole vehicle.

If you're not a mustang person...you may not even notice it on the C-pillar. It makes the car look lower/sleeker. Saleen makes a panel like this....but its 300$ Plasti dip is 10$

I done my front and rear bumpers and thinking about peeling it off.

I work for a wrecker company and I've hauled a lot of different cool **** but that would be bad ass to drag down the road.

Ive never saw so many camera phones stuck out windows going down the hwy. And a few tards ride beside it looking makes me nervous

Somewhat related - the best way I found to REMOVE plasti-dip is to spray wd-40 on it...comes right off. I had some overspray on my door from doing my rub rails (just real light, not enough to peel), sprayed some on a paper towel and it came right off. I have read that if you are trying to get it off a bumper of wheels, spray wd on them, let it sit for a few mins then hit it with a power washer...

The skins and hood on my buggy are done in red, and m dually is done in flat black. Both for about a year. Truck gets used as a truck, and has held up great so far. I'm going to touch it up as soon as it gets warm enough. I'm shocked at how good ghe buggy has held up.

Dually

Buggy

Camaro stripes in blaze purple

Camaro stripes in black

5 gallon bucket of in thinned dip

Truck with wheels bumper and grill done

I'm amazed at how well it's held up. It's starting to pee, around the windows. Nothing a q tip dipped in xylene and an aerol can cant touch up though. Roof needs resprayed too. I did it too thin and the red is starting to show through along the ribs.

Did the wheels on a Porsche cayman tonight at a buddy's shop. Centers in gloss black, and lips in gun metal.

Maybe I'm missing it but what is the advantages over paint or bedliner and paint.

No prep, paint right over your existing paint, and if you don't like it o want to change colors, you peel it off just like a piece of vinyl and whatever is underneath looks exactly as it did before you spayed it. You don't even have to mask off your windows. Wherever there is an edge, it naturally tears off. I literally have 1.5 hours in the dually from start to finish.

Also, no special equipment. It sprays right out of a Wagner power painter.

So I just wasted 2 hours of my life on That website and forum. Looks awesome just trying to figure out how to use it on a buggy.

I admit to being nearly clueless about the product, but it doesn't appear that it would hold up well to rocks at all? Is it rest-preventative?

Kind of makes me want to murder out my Cummins though. I've got what is apparently one of the rare all-black interiors and I've always wanted everything to be gloss black with the middle of the hood flat black. Not something I'd want to do permanently though.

The only way I see it being worth the time on an offroad rig was if it were being applied to something that would see little to no wear....such as a dash/console/bezel.

You can scratch it with your fingernail, tear it, and pull and it just comes off.

I have a friend that blacked out the front of his Audi sedan and it has held up fairly well for a couple years, but has several noticable spots starting to "fleek" due to bugs, rocks, and whatnot from the road.

Mine on my buggy has held up great. It's been rolled, spent the week at koh, and still looks good. It will scratch if you drag it across a rock just like anything else. Smooth the edge out with some thinner, and spray right back over it. The only reason I did the buggy was to practice on something before I did the truck. I actually figure it would peel off the first trip out. A year later and it still looks good

My truck has had all kinds of **** bounce off of it in the last year. The only time my truck moved is if it's hooked to a trailer or hauling something in the bed, and usually by someone who doesn't care about it. Only reason I did the truck was bc the red looked like **** and I wanted to put off repainting it till I had time. It's held up enough that I'm going to just touch it up once the weather permits.
