Plasti Dip your ride?

Good buddy of mine did his whole truck with rattle cans of plasti dip from home depot. Mostly gray and black. It was a test run to see if it would hold up. Spent a weekend blasting the desert at well over a 100 miles an hour, trimmed a few bushes if you know what I mean and it held up really well. Few tips if you're going to do it is wipe the rig down with a good prepping solution. Wax tar grease remover or something like that. Shake the cans often and use them from a bucket of hot water. It helps the stuff to flow and not clog tips.

I used it on some faded TJ flares I picked up for my wife's YJ. Looks great in this application, but like others already said it is not durable. This is a cruise around town Jeep so it will be ok. Already found a spot where the strap from her rain-gear cover messed up the front edge of the rear flare.

Flare before. This is what $25 for a set of 4 TJ flares gets you. lol

How many gallons did it take to do the dually?

I have half of the 5 gallon bucket left. I thinned it 50/50 with naphtha. So 5 gallons total. Wish I would have used 6 so the roof wouldn't be so thin.

Will this stuff stick to Lexan, or similar plastics? I'm building this buggy and I hate the design on the skins.

I plan to do the chassis hammered copper and the skins black. If this stuff will work for that it will sure beat making a new set of skins. Even if I have to peel and re-coat once a year.

Hell yeah. It will stick to anything pretty much. You def wanna go THICK. If not peeling it off sucks balls. I did my whole jeep black, i did it to see if i liked it black and to save the paint from when we were welding the cage. I still have some black on jeep. Really cant even tell its not paint. And my 12 yr old daughter helped and it turned out just fine. Its kinda a self leveling thing unlike paint that runs very easy. No need to peel off to recoat either. Just spray over it. Shits amazing it can take brush and abuse from offroading but pretty much wont peel unless your ready for it to peel. Go for it. The glossifier makes it much easier to clean also. But i have always been a fan of flat black..

Just watch s couple YouTube videos first on how to spray it. You want lots of light coats of I to come out smooth.

So far my grill, wheels and trim have held up fine to drive through car wash - been through 3-4 times now. Just did my bumpers Thursday eve so can't tell on them yet...

The only way that I could see it possibly coming loose is if it was already peeling and the pressure washer got under it. Very unlikely. If it does start to pill just barely score it with something sharp so you dont go into paint (learn the hard way ) peel off that area and spray over. Hell I think I have actually sprayed over mud and dirt stains before. Really is amazing ****. I'm just talking about the cans from Home Depot.. Don't know or have any experience with the stuff that you buy for automobiles. Might consider getting it it if I had a pristine paint job, still probably would just spray it with the cans , it had no effect on clearcut or anything :dblthumb:
