Pokeys rebuild

is there two joints on your steering shaft?

3 if you count the one on the steering box

Yup but looks like it is also mounted to the frame between the two joints so its all good:awesomework:

Yep. cant have them flopping around like a dieing salmon in there:redneck:

Nate you can get the oversize heim at any of the suppliers that sell steering parts. its designed to slip over the 3/4 shaft.

Ditch the lokar dipstick. Especially if it's near a header tube. The plastic inner liner will melt and spray oil all over the exhaust.

Never had a problem with it in the other jeep and it poped up right between two tubes on that one :eeek:

You better hurry on this build Jim, at this pace Mike will finish the willy's before you're done :haha:

Lookin' Good

BTW....I have some PNW4WDA work party A-Board signs in my garage if anyone is looking for some :redneck:

Gibby has deeper pockets :booo:

I will give you a call and come pick them up. :awesomework:

Been working on getting the new radiator mounted which of course meant rebuilding half the front end of the damn jeep :haha: This one fits real nice and I even managed to gain a little more clearance from the AC compressor:D But of course by moving it forward now my headlights dont fit so I picked up a pair of thin hellas and made them work. Came out looking ok. Just finished taking it all back apart again to gett all the pieces painted up purty then I get to put it all back together again...... Really hated to cut up the headlite buckets as they are damn hard to find but oh well :booo:

Who did your bronco gears?

Be very careful with that combo. When you install bronco gears into a D20 case, you must first clearance the case. However the real liability is due to shearing the teeth off of the bronco gear. The broken teeth then get stuck between the remainder of the gear and the side of the case, resulting in a very badly broken T-case.

I'm speaking from experience. The first case was from John's Jeeps (he's since passed away), but he had a shop over my neck of the woods. When that case broke, I scavange another case, rebuilt it myself with gears from Gary Marshal (and I told Gary EXACTLY what I was doing, and he said these are the correct gears), and it too broke.

Both cases broke by doing the exact same thing, and broke in the exact same manner. I got the front end slightly airborn going over a mound with moderate throttle, and when the front landed, the T-case exploded. It was surely due to the front output being unable to sustain the shock-load on the gear, from the front driveshaft. Each bronco gear cleanly shaved off about 8 or 9 teeth from the gear.

Also, you need to buy the set of gears. It's not just a single gear.

After that fiasco, I found a Scout D300 (with the 'texas' pattern) and swapped over. The Scout gears are 2.72, Bronco gears are 2.46, Jeep gears are 2.02.

Gary did this TC for me and yes theres downsides to everything but thats why I have a spare TC. Basicly all of the gears were changed using parts from the bronco 20 and a mod 18. Of course after doing this I seen the texas 300 with the tera low kit and upgrade output for sale on here for a $1000. oh well at least I dont have that much into it and I am sure it will be fine.
