Price differances

Sounds a good learning opportunity.
Hmmmmmmmm.......
Stuff required for doing that:
Large work bench

nice but a driveway will work, cinder block, or wood chunks will work. Not pretty or the most effective but use what you have.

Plasma cutter
very nice but not necessary, a grinder and cutoff wheel will work and give a nicer edge.
grinder, HF has some on sale for ~$15
HF has cut off wheels that will work but they suck, go to Fastenals (or equal) for good disks.

Welder of some sort
Yep, but I'm sure if the pieces are cut, you know someone with a welder that can be bribed with beer and pizza.
Of course you could get everything including a welder for the price of a warn bumper.

1/4" steel
Trip to the metal yard

Vise
nice but not necessary

Clamps
they are nice and think I saw 4" C-Clamp at HF for $1.99

Other assorted stuff.
Drill & drill bits, measuring stick.

I think you can find other bumpers than a Warn one for around the same price. And since your looking may I ask why your not interested in one that has a tire carrier? Even if your stock now you won't be in a year. And you'll at some point want a tire carrier. So even if you don't get it now buy a bumper that you can add one to later. That is even if you have CrashFab make you one. Have him make it upgradable.

add to this list the ability or even the desire to be able to fabricate. Lots of bandaid and medical insurance if not used to using metal working tools:redneck:

if you buy the supply's im sure there are plenty of people on here that will let you borrow their tools to make a bumper. yer welcome to come use my plasma and welder if needed

I am looking at bumpers that can have tire carrer added on, Right now just need the bumper and thats about all i have money for. This is a slow build-up.

Check ebay.. Or just talk crash into building you one for the love of god. Probably be cheaper even..It would not only be stronger but if you break it you can put it on his wheeler as a boot until he fixes it! :fawkdancesmiley:
