Project - 38 Special

Cool, I couldn't remember his name. I know I talked to him once trying to figure out the camera view. Like if the camera was mounted here and you had X amount you wanted see how far back did the camera have to be. He actually figured it out AND CALLED ME BACK.

Heres a of the hood I've got. Yeah it was still on the truck.

The front will work with your grille I know that, but for somereason I thought the cabs from '40-46 were a bit wider at the cowl. Maybe wrong though. If you plan on going '38 style headlights then I think its a none starter they wont flange up in that area or even be close.

Yes I am, thanks though. I'll keep looking, I figured I would find one on eBay. I found a 38 Sedan hood, but no pickup.

Just adding this from the gauge thread

This is what I am going with, but it is pricey:

250-DS-UDXRP: This model comes standard with all the basic instrumentation needed to operate your vehicle. Standard features include engine rpm, water temperature, oil pressure and battery voltage. You can optionally add oil temperature and fuel pressure by simply purchasing the required sender. Need more sensors? The VNet port will allow you to add up to 32 additional channels for the ultimate in expandability. The UDXRP model can record up to 10 minutes of data which you can play back later on the LCD display. You can also upgrade this model to download recorded data to our DataLink PC software for complete analysis. ($825.00)

-----

I like that I can play back all data after a hard climb, stores 10 minutes.

I may be way off base, but a PT Cruiser hood looks just like that!

My first thought was a chevy HHR, like the PT Cruiser, but I decided on old metal. It will be pre 1975, so no title required here. I can get a tag with just a bill of sale. May even run an Antique tag.

What beadlocks should I go with? I know no KMC per Matt. Trail Ready, Walker Evans, other. I think I want aluminum. What do y'all recommend??????

Go with some stauns that way you can run any wheel you want to keep the vintage look. IMO

I looked into the HHR a lil whne I started formulating my plan, kinda spendy the sheetmetal for those lil fuggers.

I think your going the right route, will be unique thumb.gif

If you want Aluminum then i would really look at the new Allied wheels. I talked with the designer of them the other day and it sounds like they did some really cool stuff when designing these wheels. Thick inner lip, hid the valve stem, and just the overall bulkiness of the wheels to be abused. But I wonder what they weigh now. f they are the same weight as a steel wheel then I would be all over the steel one just for sheer dependability reasons.

I think this build is going to be a balancing act of putting to much or to little flair. The traditional wheels may be a little over the top for the build. I don't want this to look like a old truck with mud tires on it. I want it to look like a stylish buggy with a lot of lines from an old truck. Taste full yet not to much. It is going to be interesting to say the least.

I'll look into them. OMF performance will add beadlocks to most aluminum rims. The older 5 spoke style is not available is an 8 lug, doh!! Maybe 8 spoke!! They sent me an email, but $470 each polished is more thn a little pricy. I like TR, but Nan hates the wide ring, and she does have the box.

Check out the Allied Monster wheels that AC has on his buggy, bling!

John, I've thought about running corvette rallys on mine. I was going to use the beauty ring as my bead lock. Or use it to cover up a a bead lock ring. Rally's or just plain old good looking simple wheels.
