So this guy I met at community college during my 1 semester stint there calls me up lately. He is the one I bought my yellow chevy on 40's from. He has a '99 tahoe he wants on 40" boggers and tons. No problem, I can do that.
He brings it down and its nice. leather, heated seats, power everything. He had already bought a set of cucv axles, and the guy threw in 1/4" diff covers, spring plates front and rear, new ubolts for the front, a high steer arm (junk one, didn't use it) and some other misc. **** all for $1600. with 4.56's, I thought he was doing okay.
He bought my old 40" boggers and black 14" wheels, and found a set of good boggers on ugly wheels. $700 for each set. So 2 full sets of tires adn wheels later, the good tires are on my wheels. I put 52" rears under the front (8" springs with 2 leaves taken out, down to about 5"), 5" shackles with a 4" hole for adjustment and the stock springs back in the back with a homade shackle flip and perch lowering. I also arched the rears 2.5" and put 2 leaves in each pack to help them out.
front perch
front perch of rear springs, it is by the tank (I had to pull the tank to get the bolts in) so I didn't want to weld it on. the big hole at the top that the bracket goes around is actually where the spring used to bolt. they are high as **** on tahoes. the trucks of that body style have the spring bolt under the frame by 2". I narrowed the perches in so that it fit the perches on the axle and so it put the force of the spring under the frame rail instead of on the side of it. should take away any twisting force.
the rear shackle perch, currently unpainted
from the rear. 4 broken plates in that thing, it came out nicely. I love my iron worker
how it sits now. working on driveshafts and steering is done. still need shocks, exhaust, brakes lines and some other ****. getting close.
