Prototype 14 dropout

Is this the one that superior was trying to buy the rights too? If so theres going to be some bad ass housings for it. I know Jason at The GMR was approached to make housings and Tube Works I think was going to make a housing, and like everything else all the others will be making um too. I was talking to Scott at Sunfire back in May and he was trying to get me to go with a 14 bolt center. The way he was talking, it was real close to being done back then. Am I on track or way off.
I can't see the book face page, so what does it say?

**** yea I'll take that as cats out of the bag.

yes they are Solids. The car is Loren Healys new one for KOH being built at Jimmys

I still can't find a rolled tube buggy I like that was not built by Woodlee. I really, really don't like the lines of this one.

Really thought he was going to go IFS rear engine route, seems like he has the funds. Oh well, I still don't understand building a new car every year...

Don't take this in the wrong way, but you should understand more than most. Have you read your build thread. You have basicly rebuilt your buggy a few times.

Are you kidding? My buggy is 7 years old. The drivetrain is the exact same as the day I bought it except for the motor. Also the chassis is unchanged except for front bumps and front bumper. I don't think that is even close to keeping a car for a year then selling and building new.

Maybe, I didn't explain myself, let me rephrase it.

Just going off a hunch, since I don't frequent Pirate, and I'm not up on whos whos of racing. I'm sure that most teams of the caliber of The Campbells go through a full race prep before any race. That means completely diassembling their car and replacing any part that could fail regardless if it's wore out or not. With the resources at their finger tips why not rebuild a new car. All their rebuilding is the tube frame. Thats what $1000- $1500 in material, and with all the sponsorship most parts are being donated or bought really cheap. Each time you rebuild, your design gets better and better. You tweek it that extra little bit, plus how great is for the advertiser on the side when they know their logo is on a new ride, that everyone wants to see perform.

Matt, you have change more than that on your buggy. Your buggy maybe 7 years old but it's only been in your possesion for 2-3 years of that. You can't deny the fact that you have put alot of changes into your buggy. Unless you did alot of the work yourself or got some great deals, I'm sure your real close to having what you bought it for back in it from add ons.
Just saying , not trying to start anything.

I fully understand why Campbell is building a new car, they can do whatever they want in a week or two. But Shannon is running the same car for a 3rd time, the new one is for Nick. Not many can hang with the budget or sponsors of the Campbell's. I was rererring to Healy selling a close to 100k rig that was less than a year old, just to get in another similar rig. Lots of folks are buying and selling like a revolving door, I just don't see the benefit it gives you other than an untested car.

I have less than half of what others have in their cars. I have changed my car a good bit, but I always did it buy selling old to help pay for new. Most of what I changed was components and not really design changes

I bet Healy doesn't have as much in his cars as you think. I am sure Jimmys hooks him up.

Loren told me that it was going to be another $30k to go IFS and it just wasnt going to happen this year. He said this car couldnt have remotely happened without all of the sponsor parts on it. And I know he was considering putting a full body on it for desert races vs. a buggy body for KOH style stuff. Havent talked to him since around XMAS though.

Shannon told me this when I was standing in his shop two years ago. And to paraphase...they have to sell their cars every year to pay for racing for the next year.

How much do you think Shannon has in each of his cars? Axles are Currie sponsored, tires & wheels BFG & Walker Sponsored, Trans is HUGHES sponsored , Engine is TURNKEY sponsored, not sure if he is AA sponsored on the transfer case but my money says he is. Lighting sponsor, then you add in Monster money to pick up all the incidentals that dont fall under big ticket.

At that point you see why they have to sell to monitize those sponsorships to pay for the next season, and the sponsors give them new for the new year.

Loren is on that same eTicket ride just has to subsidize a lot more because of lack of sponsors, or lack of ull sponsors then paying Randy for the work. I hung out in Cortez last August and rode around town with Randy. I really didnt get the impression he was SUPER hooking Derek or Loren up on any parts. but he was able to write off the labor on raceprep. As long as Loren covered the hard parts. At least thats what I took from the conversation. I thought that was a super deal.

Loren is not rich by any stretch. He makes a good living and is just a regular Joe for the most part.

Campbell told me he "Lived like a ******" to get to race for a living.

I think it all looks good on the surface but the person you want to be is Nazir.....

He is a multi-bazillionaire, Arab Sheik, 14th cousin to the 4th son of the Prince of Wahib. He shits $100 bills........

The rest of this KOH gang are hillbillies laughing1

yeah that would be nice. They left out today for KOH

Yeah but all that money can't buy talent! I say the pic of Nazir's stable of rigs and it looked damn nice though.

Oh and I know that Campbell does have much out of pocket in his rigs besides tubing and materials. And if you look he really hasn't sold many rigs since he got hooked up with Monster.
