Race time!

It has nothing to do with money or commercialization. The promoters would likely like to keep it as simple as possible but things are working against them. The coverage of the race has increased and this has increased the popularity. The crowds grow every year and as seen in KOH 10' the huge crowds of morons created many bad situations on the course. I think things were going to change this year any way but after the deaths earlier this year the BLM changed up the rules and HammerKing had to scramble just to get enough security and barriers up to even have the event. I can just about guaranty that with a full year ahead the crowd control and safety rules for BLM events will become even more strict.

All of the extra security and layout costs more money therefore more sponsors are needed just to fund the event.

As with most evolution you need to take the good with the bad.

well said... Sure would like to take a trip next year down there.... Guess Its a year away and plenty of time to save and pay off debts so I can go guilt free:redneck:.. lol...:awesomework:

Well, as Camo said it many times last night on the live coverage. The best way to view the event is to be there.... Who's 'Thinking or Planning" on making it to the MONSTER energy drink KOH'12?

Odie told me there would be changes and this would be the last good year to go.. Damn... Wish I could have made it.... Now all the rich :rb:ex moto cross riders are going to be showing up in rented or never driven rigs....

Wonder what the entry fee is going to be for the racers next year?... Will spectators have to pay to watch?

Who cares if they do? The real racers will still race and win/place high.

And part of the point of Ultra 4 is that the small guys can race in it. It is the cheapest desert racing to be in.

Pay to spectate? Never happen....

Happened this year. $10 for an wristband, and if you didn't have an wristband you were a blacksheep.:redneck:

hmmm kinda like a XJ wheeler at Elbe & Old Reiter :redneck:...:haha:

I can't give you a DNF list but I've been in contact with Jayluke all day and he's a BNS groupie:Dand confirmed Jason Blanton was out with a broken drive-line and upper link. He DNF'd early in the race.:booo:

And.....No Canadian guys even finished the race.:booo:

He DNF'd late in the race. Was in 7th position for a bit early in the race. Flopped it while going for a pass:mad: The reason for the DNF was a broke upper link that took out the front D-Line and the oil pan. This took place on the second ledge of the Back Door. He was in 33rd position at the time of the race stopping breakage...:booo:

S&N came thru around 9:30 in I think 43rd place after starting in 60 sumthin....... Running hot and low oil pressure....

Car 4471.
The engine oil was fine it was a little hot but never over heated and never cause any performance issues. The car broke an upper rear link around RM39 and took a couple hours to get to the remote pit. I welded the upper link back to the axle and they completed lap one but we found the front upper link brackets had cracks so I re-welded them... on the second lap at some point (I thought after RM 41) the car last power steering but completed to race with out it.

The Car was fast if the upper link wasn't broken I bet they could have finished top 10... next year!!!!

I was wondering what happened to them.

Was it Dave's car or Jason's car? Seems like every years its just one little thing that you normally wouldn't think off (wheel studs, links etc......)

Talk about the stealth crew, Unless I'm just not in the right circles anymore I didn't even know they were racing this year.... or that you had gone down.... Should have bummed a ride... :redneck:

Dave does not have a car (burned up) Dave has been racing Jason's car. Dave was the driver of record.

Jason stopped by and helped me with my engine placement and we got to talking... I really didn't know I was going until Tuesday I drove the Jasons' down. It was a good time but working on a car you really don't get to see much of the race... the start line and in/out of the pits...

Ahh, I remember Dave's buring down, but I thought it had been rebuilt.

Good to know Jason's getting some good use out of his rig. Hey, last minute is better than no minute :D

Now I just need to get JC over to my place to help me place MY engine.... o-wait, I need to get the last piece in to couple it all together :haha:
