I have a 100A sub panel in the shop, diagonal opposite end of the house from incoming power, so there is a breaker to disconnect the shop from the house panel too. So I will usually just flip it, flip the main and see if the lights come on.
Damn boonies the power goes out a lot, and we're usually the last to get service because of population density...
