Yep, married, one boy-7, one on the way... Broke as a damn convict. On a $40 a week plus whatever I can sell or scrap budget. So, yeah- Backyard run what you can get your hands on cutup a truck- is right!
Painted the axle and back of the frame. Thought I bought satin black, ended up being "satin oil rubbed bronze". Best paint mistake I ever made. Love it.
Here it is bolted in......... almost.
Made a boo-boo. Boxed the upper link mounts a little tight. Now I have to drill a hole in the back of the mount to make clearance for the heim. Then I'll have to plate it. Dang it.
Been a while, computer crapped out on me. Updates.
Sold the Fox 2.0's and traded for some Bilstein coilovers, 2-14", 2-18".
Cut 14" off the frame and capped it. Radiator goes out back.
Front axle in with the Duff arms and coilovers temporarily mounted in. (Will need to be moved again, I think.) Got a new face, narrowed EB grill, pinched fenders in to match.
Eligible for government housing.
Digital camo.
Now I'm working on the hood, dash, bedsides, wiring, whatever I can til I get mo' money to buy a follow bar to start on the cage. Believe I'm gonna make a "can I borrow" thread...
Thanks brother, workin like crazy to finish. Wife is gonna have a baby fall out of her any time now, want to get as much knocked out before my little Ranger-money stealer gets here. :****:
Little wiring hack, which is bad because I know exactly **** about wiring.
Ok, so if you know anything about wiring, I need some help.
1. Are the wires to the MAF sensor current sensitive, where they don't like a butt-connector and won't read right? They're 6 feet long, and I'd like to shorten them. Are any of them current sensitive?
2. I'm only using 3 wires from the body fuse panel, can I lose the box and just use 3 in-line fuses?
3. Does the 4.0 require signal from the fuel pump and sending unit to run?
Productive weekend, thanks to help from lil brother-
A-pillar bars and front-hoop-crossover-connector-bar-thingy are all in (but damn phone died), welding is 90% done. While I'm saving up for the 1 1/2" toob, I'm gonna make brackets for the coilovers and modify my lowers to resemble a Campbell Ent. buggy... sorta.
Finished welding everything in tonight. Cut the front hoop support back out and welded in the ventilated engine removal plates. Knocked the slag off, sanded down any high welds, and started making shock mounts, but burnt up the one bastard size bit I had. Maybe tomorrow...
Only a couple hours work from it sitting on its own weight! Woo-hoo!
On a not-so woo-hoo note, anyone know how I can get 2 or 3 tiny slag balls out of the threads on the coilovers? I removed them for welding, apparently should have set them on the other side of the room.
Fully sitting on its own weight now. May be a little high for my taste, but I'm diggin' the belly clearance.
Did a little wiring. Made a platform for the engine fuse box to sit on, kinda re-routed everything to sit in one corner.
I know, it looks like a birds nest... Well, it is a birds nest. But everything was separated and zip-tied (color coordinated), and then wadded up and tied to the cage with a BFZip-tie.
And the tilt-nose has paid off ten fold while doing all this electric crap. :smokin:
Tomorrow I'll put some good use to all the toggles I bought today. Maybe start on the steering.
The tilt front is pretty cool but what happens if you put on a winch? Nice lookin unit though. We may be going to windrock pretty soon if we do ill give ya a call.
