It's all according how you run, on the trip up, I put in at scottsboro, it takes all day, but we stop a thousand times, but last year I left early and ran around 40ish, and made it in less than 3 hours, Guntersville about another 30 min. On top of that.

My boat is 40ish at WOT. I'd guess it would take me 5 hours or so from Guntersville. What's the feasibility of staying the night in Chattanooga and leaving the boat somewhere?

Chattanooga has a place to leave a boat behind the aquarium that's will hold lots of boats! It's no problem, it's a long concrete wall with big rubber bumpers a few feet apart, tie up. Walk up some stairs, and your in downtown Chattanooga!

Hales Bar is about the halfway point between Scottsboro and Chattanooga, and I believe the only place to get gas, we always stop there, nice little store, for ice and beer etc. but if you make it that far, I think you would be a lot happier to go on to Chattanooga, because they is nothing at Hales bar! if you run around 40ish, only about a hour from there to Chat. Chattanooga is so cool for a boater, pull up, and tie off, walk up the stairs, and you in downtown! all the motels, and restaurants you could want, and everything is in walking distance.

What do they think about small boats coming through the lock at Nickajack? Whats the process for getting through? Sounds like an awesome trip fron Guntersville, I'd have to start a little closer to Chattanooga though. Boat is a 1986 Malibu Skier with a 351w, it's slow going if the water is choppy.

You just pull up to the lock, and there is a cord you pull to alert them, as long as there's not boats already in there or a barge coming ( because they have priority over you) they open the gate, you pull in, and they make everyone wear a life jacket, and you tie off. Can take anywhere between 15 min to a hour depending on traffic.

Ok cool, thanks. I may give that a shot this summer. We usually just hand out on Pickwick Lake but that would be a cool change of scenery. Gotta take it slow to keep those secondaries closed on the carbeurator. If not, it won't make it between fuel stops

Not this model. This one goes 80 mph plus can climb a tree like a monkey. Wait, that's my buggy.

It can touch the 80+ mark with these motors, but I like to putt putt, vroom vroom a little bit. Rides like on a cloudy of titties

You guys get up around Chattanooga I wouldn't want you to be disappointed but the docking areas downtown are all under Construction for Riverbend fest. I think it will be complete near the end of May. I'll keep an eye out were on Chickamauga lake just about every weekend

We will be in chattanooga on June 20th. Thanks for the heads up. we probably stay at Springhill Marriott Saturday night and hope to dock right there. Steve can stay in his boat but wants shore power. Hopefully all this will work out. I have came to the conclusion that the off road people are the best group of people around and is boating not off road ad well?

I'm sure the Hotel will be fine and the Marina south of downtown will have a place for transient docking but the Chattanooga waterfront slips by the Aquarium are under construction

Me and Rockwell 1 are a fixin to park the ole buggies and hit the river. we are going to put in at Ktown in the Tennessee river Friday morning and head down to Nickajack. We plan on stoping somewhere in watts bar and rent a cabin friday night and continue to chattanooga Saturday night. Hit the town that night an go on early Sunday morning to Hale Bar marina You fisherman that know watts bar know a sweet cabin on the lake around the ten mile area we could stay at. We are doing this the last weekend in June. we will get a motel in Chattanooga Saturday night. I checked on a cabin in Grandview 42 but well see. I believe this will be a good adventure.

PM me tomm and I will ask around. Couple guys at work live around Ten Mile and will know where if any cabins are.

We are set! Have slips and a cabin at Euchee marina at ten mile and a room at spring hill Marriott and slips at Marinamax in Chattanooga. All we need now is sunshine and lots of gas.
