A buddy of mine has a sammi tube buggy from ttc and has the 54 claws and rocks , those tires have so much mass they broke stock Ujoint shafts like toothpics, I think they'd break the 16 spline chromo stuff too he went with rcv's now not sure if he has broke any of those and he only runs a 4.3 v6... 2" is prolly
The only way to reliably run 54" tires they are just to heavy for anything else

I was next to the truck heckling (because I'm a good friend) when Ryan broke that 16 spline RCV shaft. It was a nasty section that I wouldn't even call a trail above Insanity at Big Dogs. Steep climb with huge loose rollers. He got off his line, had the right rear 54 pinned in a hole, at full steer, with all the weight of the truck on it. He was out of moves. POW! Shattered the bell.
Also bear in mind that that little (built) 4.3 has a 700R4, & 203/205 doubler behind it. The 205 has the lowMax 3:1 kit into it. So, it has quite a bit of gear reduction.

RCV analysed the broken parts, sent him a new shaft, and said see if it happens again. Ryan's response was "Challenge Accepted". That was at least a year and a half ago. Maybe 2.
I personally think it was a fluke. I've watched those shafts do some crazy ****.

Only way to run 54's or even the 53" michelins is with 2" shafts. Unless you are extremely light. My old rig was just over 7,000lbs and beat the **** outta it with no issue what so ever on the shafts. With that being said I broke 3 pinion gears. Ha 2 sets broke with the 53's 300lbs a piece and 80 lb wheels. 1 set broke with 54's 200lbs a piece and stazworks. Those were with violators but RCV's are badass as well.

Oh that's been a given...just was curious which way to go....it's only money right lol. Now finish that badass smith chassis so we can go do some SRRS beatdowns!
