I got new Yukon chromoly axles for my D60 for fathers day. My question is what u-joints do I go with. I've looked at CTM's, Longfield 300M's and Yukon super joints. They all seem to have a good warranty and all seem to be a great product. Any pros or cons to anyone in particular before I order, or suggestions on one that might be better than these that i've mentioned.

Didn't even know they made them. I don't know much about ouverson. But I've always heard great things about them.

Ouversons. They are pure beef and killer strong.

Ouverson makes d60 joints???

This is just a flow out of my mind, and I know that Dana wasn't anticipating what we do, being in 4wd MOST of the time applying full torque SO OFTEN, but you can get 1480 DRIVESHAFT joint applications that use d60 fronts with 1480 STEERING joints also. Doesn't it seem like they should have used something bigger at the knuckle being as it sees, generally speaking, 3.73 - 7.17 times the torque? Just as a general rule, shouldn't the joint at the knuckle be bigger than the driveshaft?

No wonder they don't hold up unless they're made out of some exotic material. I bet if Dana designed a FULL TIME front end for use in a 300+ ft/lbs torque vehicle they would use a much bigger joint. I guess this is why rockwell joints and RCV's make so much sense over a "1-ton" joint to me.

Anyway, move on, sorry for digressing.

I just looked at them. $275.00 a piece so in the same ball park as the yukon super joint from prices I've seen on line and cheaper than CTM's. They look like meat. Ouverson says limited lifetime warranty. I wonder what limited means.

I have been running them for over 2 years without failure at the fault of the joint. Derek West turned me on to them after I broke a Longfield at KOH. I get mine through Wide Open Design, they were stocking them the last time I got some. I haven't run any other joint since I installed my first Ouverson. I have now broken a Superior inner and stub around the same Ouverson joint and it still looks new.

After a year of abuse and a broken inner shaft.

crawlin85cj thank you for your input. Looks like I will be ordering these for my new shafts.

All of the needle less aftermarket joints are very strong! They all do have the same downfall however, you have to keep them greased often to make them live a long happy life! The limited warrantee comes from: if you break it they will replace it( not gonna happen) if the bushings wear out this isn't covered but you can rebuild them!

2 squirts of grease in each joint when I lift it up to check wheel bearings and driveline joints. Lack if PM causes trail plugs no matter the joint. OEM makes it easy to grease compared to some other joints out there so PM is more likely to actually be done. The only thing I prefer over the Violator is RCV

I think I can find the time to grease before or after every ride. At $275.00 a piece I'll probably wash and wax the bastards after I grease them.

Let me qualify that statement...I've done it 2x in 16 months. The joint looked great last weekend when I had to change a broken stub. It's not an every ride thing unless you're endurance racing.

I'm no endurance racer in any aspect of my life. Lol 85cj I really appreciate your input. Your selling a damn fine ride my friend.

super joints never had a problem :driving:

I upgraded to Yukon 4340 shafts and Yukon Superjoints in the Waggy D44 back when I had my old Tacoma, world of difference over stock shafts and Spicer joints. Like the Grand Wizard Adam Lee said, needless joints are the **** and most come with solid warranties, just gotta keep em greased. Mash Yer Motor.

Sent from my not-so-dumb phone...

Waggy d44 on 37" iroks.....yukon axles and yukon super joints. Flat out lovin'em!!!!

The 37s started killing the 760x joints so I had to goto the super joints. I grease them every other trip.
