Call eor and get superjoints. Cheapest I found and usually get them next day. If your runnin Yukon shafts there is no point in tryin to get anything from ouverson. Shafts will be weak link if you go over spicers.

As I understand it the Yukon doesn't use a bushing between the cap and trunion, basically eliminating any rebuild possibilities. CTM, Longfield and Ouverson all use bushings that are replaceable. It's security to me in the event a seal went bad, water got in and caused friction damage or gaulding. I would rather rebuild than replace, especially when the cost is so much cheaper.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying.....a rebuild kit is just a whole new cap for any of those right?

Jus for size comparo I snapped a side by side pic of my d44 units.

Also when I was doing my research on all of these needleless u joints I found out that Carl Jantz over on pirate that does all those Jana kits was the inventor of the Yukon Superjoint. I respect him and all the data he has shared about this product and field testing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I had rather the shaft be the weak point, then most likely you only have to worry about 1 shaft breaking if it happens. Every time I broke stock axles in the Tacoma, the u joint (760x) shattered first and then the ears of the shafts wadded up against each other also ruining both the inner and the outter. Even adds to it if you are running drive flanges instead of manual hubs too. It would be easier to drive out of the woods with a broke shaft rather than all the **** wadding up after ujoint failure if you are running drive flanges (if you didnt want to tear it down and completely remove the inner and outter on the broke side first). Just my opinion on it, then again I'm still sort of a newb lol. Just makes sense to me if something is gonna break, might as well be what's cheapest to replace. 1 shaft is cheaper than both shafts plus u joint. Especially superjoints, they aren't exactly cheap when compared to a 760x Spicer.

No, a rebuild kit for a CTM and Violator is a busing and seal for each cap. You don't have to buy a new cap to rebuild them.

Also, notice in that picture the Yukon and the CTM joints require a grease needle and each cap has to be greased. With the Violator it is a standard grease gun and only 1 grease point per joint to worry about. The grease fitting does not have to be removed to install or remove the shafts through the knuckle like the Yukon or CTM.

Re: Re: School me on U-Joints

Well...the yukons are a lot less cash and I like being able to hit each cap individually.

I would like to know how one would go about repacing a bushing in a cap. Seems like it'd be a helluva lot easier to jus toss a cap on it and go.

Actually, the Yukons cost more for a 4340 body than the Ouverson that uses 300M for the body. The Yukons are $540 a pair on the ECGS website and $260 each on the WOD website.

Changing the bushings is easy, especially when they are worn out. A few hours in the freezer or a few mins with dry ice and they come right out. I've done it twice on D44 CTMs and each time it was much easier than I expected it to be.

Re: Re: School me on U-Joints

Uhhh...yea....the Yukons are like 260 shipped or so for both...with grease....and a grease gun.

Ouverson = Ouverated

You are obviously getting a smoking deal on them because that is certainly not the price anywhere I've found.

Everyone has them around that $540-$550 mark. If there is a place to get a pair for $260 shipped please let us know how to go about this. That may very well change my mind on this.

For the same price the Violator is bigger, stronger, has a larger snap ring, serviced easier and is constructed of better material with replaceable wear parts. All that is not worth double the money for most people. Ouverson isn't overrated, it stacks up as a better product for comparable money unless this $260 shipped for a pair is in fact a deal to be had. Then I say Yukon should ramp up production because they will own this market for that price and product.

Where do I order a pair of Yukons for $260 shipped so I can test them in my buggy?

I got mine for that price or a lil less from a pirate/naxja vendor RWKHaus Supply. You know....use some random forum code or somthin for 10% off

Same site shows a cap for 15 bucks...rebuild kit for 60-somethin.

That's not a D60 joint...it's a D44.

Not exactly a Yukon either. I'll stick with my tested and proven Ouverson joints. My weekend in the woods and axle shafts are not worth the risk of knock off stuff not even worthy of a brand name.

I know....I dont need D60 joints for my D44....of which I took a picture of.

I guess I thread jacked on the d44/d60 joint size. Sorry bought that.

Re: Re: School me on U-Joints

Are the Yukon 60 joints that much higher than 44's???

I think I paid like $155 for a single Yukon Superjoint shipped from CCOR. Waggy D44 of course.

I can't post Yukon prices or I'd be in map violation. Call me at 706-207-4140 or pm me for a quote.
