Shop/garage heat

we don't get as cold as most of you guys out east, but i use a 4800w 220V electric construction heater in my uninsulated 18X22 garage.
I works quite well, built in thermostat and less then $100.

i'm pretty sure home depot sells them. they are about 12"x12"x12" so easy to put away when not needed.

Yeah, Brad and I built that in a couple short hours w/ some beers 2 winters ago, and it has been in a constant state of "upgrades" every since.

There are plans in the works for an entire new HEATILATOR with a built in pizza oven. Maybe next year. :awesomework:

well if it gets retired at least put it in the front yard for all to admire.. or in mine,
my buddy and i are going to build the super bbq, i already had the headers set aside, and a 200 gallon steel tank, now how right i was about the potential sexyness, im thinkin olive drab on its own trailer on some old 33inch swampers:cool:

Real quickie garage heater: Old oven with a fan sitting on the open door. Use it for preheating parts before welding too! I had mine mounted in the rafters at my old place in S Seattle. Glad I didn't leave it there because the doofus that bought the house from us stuck the washer/dryer in the garage with an extension cord and recently burned the house down!

no need to be dealing with propane fumes

Personaly I like my electric house furnace in the shop.Easy, just flipp the switch, nice and queit very warm quick.

For you propane guys theres a product called cgx-4 www.energyadditives.com is where you can read about it.I use it in my zuke for top end lubrication(makes a big differance).

A customer (mechanic) came into the store last winter, looking like ****.He was complaining about a head ache from his propane heater in his shop.I told him I can eleminate that issue if you would like.Hes like hell ya how?I gave him what I had left in bottle told him to add this stuff next time he filled up.Dude is estatic about the differance it makes.I just sold him another bottle of it last month( he swerse by it now).GIve it a shot you wont regret it.

Happy heating,Mike.

I just got my shop heat going. It's an OMNI waste oil heater, 300K btu output, 225 gal. oil tank. With the 30 deg. days were having right now it will bring the shop from 40 deg. to 60 deg. in an hour. The best part is the free fuel. :awesomework:
