Skippin' Rocks Buggy

Playing around on a ledge the night before the races and ripped a front upper link tower off the axle after a rough hit and putting it on its side. When the link tower let go the axle shifted and let the driveshaft hit the engine skid hard enough to shove it up into the crank balancer and also breaking the belt. The driveshaft also hit the oil pan but surprisingly the oil pan won the battle. I also bent a H1 wheel center on the passenger front.

welp,

that is beating it, do doubt about that.

Did y'all hit ' Larry's Hill ' at SMORR?

What'd you think of the park?

Love the buggy! Congrats on a great purchase

Yes when I was there on Labor Day I went up Larry's Hill. I remember when that hill was doable with a Jeep on 33's but it is nasty now! I first started wheeling at SMORR many years ago and I haven't found a park that I enjoy more as of yet.

Cool. Yeah one of my favorite places to wheel

You'll be seeing a LOT of Larry's Hill Action the end of the month!

Oh don't worry bout the panels and breaking **** derek. I'm sure Patooyee gave a 5 yr 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty. :woot:
Just tell him Casey sent ya. Hahaha.
Also I got your package very quick. Forgot to tell u. Thanks again. Glad you love the buggy. I would imagine there's nothing less than perfect done on it knowing Patooyee. :****:

Did anybody else just feel patooyee's soul just die a little? You know he is stalking this thread sitting there :'(

Beat the hell out of that buggy! That what is was made for. More videos also.

Haha, I've been busy at work today. I've been seeing the updates trying to find a free second to sit down and post. Derek sends me text updates and what not when he is out though. I've already seen the forthcoming videos. It is hard to watch it break. To be honest I'm surprised it did. But at least it is getting used. Its also funny to watch his driving vs. mine. I think he's probably tired of me telling him to put it in high range by now. :)

Here's the video of the breakage on Friday. The quality isn't that great but you can still see the sparks fly!

Here's the GoPro footage from my race last weekend. I missed a couple turns that killed my time and also hooked a couple trees with the rear tires on the last hill but the buggy stayed together (Thanks Patooyee!) and I got the biggest adrenaline rush wheeling I've ever had! :woot:

Man this is so surreal watching these. My buggy couldn't have gone to a better new owner than Derek. He is a very down-to-earth guy with patience and intelligence. Its great to see someone in the passenger seat as well, that's something the rig was built for but never ended up having with me. It looks like we ride completely different parks but I feel like we would be good friends if we were closer to each other. I think you already have more video of that rig in action than I ever got. I'm just notoriously bad at getting video. I was always either up and over everything by the time anyone got the cameras out or no one ever had a camera on them to begin with. :)

Oh, and I love the name. That's something I never got around to doing.

As I watch these I'm sitting here going, "Nail it!" or "Rear steer left!"

He made it up into my hood with it, less you though. :(

He didn't climb a couple other trails in SMORR besides Tombstone either, like Black out (did you go down this one OP? I did in my old Toyota years ago) Didn't climb Doe skid (not sure anyone can though. (Did you get to go off this one OP?) I think there is one other trail way at the end of the main road to the left on the left. We went up it but it took a winch to get passed the second ledge off to the left side. It's a very nice park and offers some pretty serious trails to try your stuff out on. There is one other trial that was pretty badass we went up a few times but Brandon closed it because people kept going over into his neighbors property. :(

Flat Nasty is a nice part up here in Salem Mo you can try out too OP. Ron just purchased property across the road from his park he's preparing into RV camping sites and has a large cabin on it for rent while you're there. That was one of the main issues with his place and he has finally got this resolved. I expect to see more folks heading to his place in the future as well.

You are right, I never tried Blackout on this trip with the buggy (forgot it was there to be honest). I didn't drop down doe skid either but I've done it many times with old rigs. The trail at the end of the main road is Marty Crawl and according to Brandon I am the first to get up it without winching. Full Throttle is the trail he closed down and it was one of my favorite trails in the park to take my old TJ up. Its a shame Brandon had to close a trail on his own property because people couldn't resist cutting cables and fences on several occasions.

Flat Nasty is also a very good place to wheel. I've been going to that area of Missouri since I was very little camping, floating, and trout fishing. If I could work from home I would be living in that general area of south central Missouri right now.

Well it's been awhile since I've updated but I have still been taking the buggy out to the local park here in Louisiana for a few days trips. Catahoula Recreaction is having a bounty hill for their Spring Fling event on April 9th so I plan to take a shot at that. I took it out this past weekend and was wheeling by myself for 75% of the time and my buddy wanted to ride rather than video (can't blame him) but we did get a video of me cutting some cyclones!

Took a last minute trip to Choccolocco Mountain over the weekend. This was my first time at the park and really enjoyed what little bit of it I was able to see. Saturday morning we were out running some easier trails and out of nowhere I broke the passenger front inner shaft. John who was breaking in his new buggy that KCK just finished up let me borrow a stock shaft to keep wheeling. Went up Boat Ramp and Violator and then broke something in the driver side rear corner a little over half way up Showtime. Also cut a tire on Violator or Showtime so I need to find someone in South Louisiana to vulcanize a tire for me. I'm running Ouverson 16 spline shafts in the front and Ouverson 47 spline shafts in the rear with stock u-joints all the way around. Hoping that the u-joint let go and didn't damage the shafts. Replacing u-joints with Violator u-joints regardless. booyang

Had a great weekend and will return as soon as my second daughter is old enough to travel!

Re:

So awesome to this rig wheeled Luke it should be. Hate it when I see awesome rigs built/sold and only wheeled on bunny trails.
