ok just replaced my clutch assy, master, and slave for the 6th time in a few months. My wife and I were out bleeding it and the slave exploded AGAIN...This keeps happening:mad:

WTF is going on?

Jeep inline 6, AX-15 internal slave.

so before you bled it you put everything back together?

you are over extending the slave I would guess that your flywheel is warn out as well as a thin clutch disk.

Everything is new. The pedal seems pretty hard when pumping. Also its not over extending , its blowing past the seals.

Are you bleeding it like you bleed brakes? you do not pump it up. You only do one pump then open the valve, close it when you hit the floor(or just before) repeat until all the air is out.

**** I think thats were I'm going wrong.

Matt: Everythign is AC Delco this time around.

I like to just open the valve put a tube on the end, put the tube into a container then just start filling it up, when I see fluid running out the other end thats when I start to bleed the system.

well I just read my Chiltons.:booo: Looks like I've been bleeding it wrong :redneck:

Good news is I've taken this tranny out so many times I've got it down to 5-10 minutes to pull the tranny. Pretty good for being on my back. :redneck:

Stop wasting your money on those POS internal slaves. I went and bought a bellhousing for a 1995+ XJ, external slave which includes the master cylinder, and bearing retainer now it works like a dream, and if it goes out, it takes minutes to replace, not hours. Also it is a breeze to bleed. BTW I have never bled an internal slave, they have always just self bled. I only spent $400 total for all the parts the master and slave were new, the other two were at Olympic.

I'm moving next week. I need to get this thing fixed before the move.

OK I give up..

Put in #7 slave cylinder tonight. First gravity bled it. Then bled it exactly like chiltons manual says. Just like what Boxboy says to do.

I can afford to keep throwing slaves at it. I spent close to $1500 trying to fix this and its still not even close.

Jon,
Don't have any answers. The only OTHER thing I can think of, is that the clutch master cyl may be bad / or you have a pinched line somewhere / and it's not allowing the fluid to return to the resevour. That's causing too much fluid / or too much pressure to build up in the slave, causing them to blow. It's like a collapsed brake line causing a siezed brake caliper. The caliper isn't bad, but the brake fluid can't return, so it just build pressure until the wheel won't turn. Or something like that... I dunno, at least it's something to look at and make sure of.

Man I've checked everything. I'm about done with this. I think I need to start gathering parts up to make this and auto. Only thing that sucks is I'm runnign out of time. I need to get this finished ASAP. Where moving by the end of the month. :booo: :booo:

Tally:
4 masters, 7 clutch kits with slaves.:booo:

Called the part stores today nobody has a new hydraulic line.

Guess I'm going to have to pull it out and have NAPA build me one.
