I think I used a screwdriver on mine.

are you talking the c clips on an axel u joint or the external snapring on a driveshaft?

on the driveshaft one sometimes you need to masage it with a BFH and a socket and knock it inward to gain the few thousands of clearance to remove it.

if its the axel c clips just knock one side out and the rest will follow. i have a old broken chisel i use for this to save screwdriver tips.

Axel C-clips sorry

I have tried the hammer and screw driver method but those things wont budge and i smashed several fingers to prove it (still throbbing in pain acctually)

Its like they are rusted on there, almost broke the screw driver head with a rubber mallet cause i was hittin so hard but nothing happened

you have any penetrating oil like PB blaster or Kroil Oil? If not go pick some up from schmucks and spray it on those bitches

also dont use a rubber mallet it looses too much energy, hit that bitch with a machinist BFH.

some penetrating oil might help but it really a matter of who is boss.:fawkdancesmiley:

Alright well they were rusted on but i got them off.

Now i cant get the U-Joint out grrrr, i even went over to my neighbors house and he tried to help but no matter what we did we couldnt get it to move even a tiny bit. So i think i might ask spencer who works at terrace automotive if i can borrow a press for like 5 mins to press the old ones out and the new ones in cause theres no way im getting the old ones out at my house thtas for sure

you better just wheel the **** out of it so you break your u joints. Then they will come out easy. I cant believe no one suggested this sooner. I'll be more than happy to beat the crap out of your ranger to help you out.
