when I was looking for new shafts for my samurai I was quoted for a Spicer joint and a Yukon super joint. IIRC, there was a $150 difference.

In my case a 4cyl sammy, is this "upgrade" worth the extra coin ?

Also, the Yukon "limited lifetime warranty" is appealing, but I've heard they wont warranty the shaft if its from a joint failure.....

Re:

I ran Spicer 760s in a D44 application. ...kept cracking caps.

Switched to super joints....only thing that failed was axle yokes getting egged out.

Gotta remember to keep the anti seize in the Yukon though.

Piper I was talkin to daves about RCV's.. And he says "you can get a lifetime warranty for half the price of RCV from yukon".. So I mentioned that about the warring suckin balls and how pissed I would be if I spent all that money and they didn't wanna cover it.. He then told me, he's NEVER had an issue with warranty work.. Unless it was just somthing stupid on the customers part... BUT you MUST have all yukon axle parts. Meaning inners, stubs, joints and flange/hub. Personally I have the Spicer non greasable lifetime or wtf ever it is.. No issues so far.. At full lock the ears on inners rub once in a while. Figured I would take a die grinder and take a hair off one day. Hell I got inners and joints and I'll b there wI think.. I would love to have the confidence of a lifetime warranty, I can assure u my drivin habits would change! But man that almost 300 a piece is HORSESHIT. . That's insane if Ya think bout it , I try not to think bout it myself. :****: I would think if u didn't plan on a motor upgrade u would be fine with spicer... As always I suggest Ya not take my advice without other opinions from tha more experienced on here...
Oh yeah and :flipgotcha:

Dude I spent. The money for yukons and there joints... Broke a complete set would not warranty them.. So I'm running some off brand cromo 35 splines and spicer u-joints til I get my rcvs... So far I'm 5 rides... 2 races on those and they haven't broke yet !!!!! Which is way more riding than I ever had on those P.O.S. yukons

I've had good luck with the Yukon/superjoint setup so far and that's in a heavy rig with a warmed up lq4 on 42s.

that being said, I am running 10 factory stuff with 300m joints and the Yukon stuff are my spares now.

try Dave at Olivers Custom Driveshaft in NC. might be worth a call

tell him Steve sent ya

Can't count the # of chromo shafts I broke in my 44s. Never broke a u-joint after I went to Longfield u-joints. I'm VERY happy with the RCVs so far. I no longer grit my teeth when I'm nailing the throttle on a rock ledge. Well worth the money.

What was their excuse for not covering under warranty??? I'm tellin Ya, spend that kinda money and they not cover it... I may be on a plane to yukon headquarters to Prob go to jail for raisin hell. That **** would fawkin piss me off worse than anyone can imagine. BUT I would def hold the person I bought them from to their word about the lifetime warrenty. Man I hate to read this... Ain't the first time I have heard it either! Bastards.

I checked with every hardline vendor I found for quotes.

Dave's was the best prices for the gm 8.5"
Did you check with eor and ask for your friend of amfl discount?

I asked the guy at Yukon when I ordered me an axle last week about USA standard. He said they are Yukon shafts that are blems. Thet they don't meet the final quality requirements of the Yukon labeled shaft. He said if you break one it's pretty much not covered under warranty.

When I broke my warn 35spl. locking hub, I had 5 years on them. Warn told me I needed an original receipt to cover it under warranty. That's bull chit

to me the warranty is worth the small price difference b/t usa standard and Yukon.
Well hell yes it is. But if it doesn't get covered thensomebody's got some Splainin to do!! That's why I would just order mine from someone like Daves, that way in most cases they should stand behind it. And deal with yukon.

My tacoma could break d44 spicers on command. Went to super joints and never broke another one.

I bought his old axle set too! ^^^

I ran a D44 in my old Tacoma front end, Spicer u joints would fail before the stock shafts would fail. When that happened, before I could stop the wheels from turning, the axle shaft ears would run into each other, in turn ruining both the inner and outter shaft too!

I bought the yukon set of 4340 chromo's from Brock with Superjoints, **** never broke again til I sold it. In my opinion, it is dumb to run chromo shafts and just put spicer joints in it, especially in half ton ****. You're just creating a weakpoint that will later give you problems then you'll spend more money and fix it the correct way like you should the first time, with superjoints.

Quit trying to cut corners dammit! :wtflol:

Been there done that with the Yukon Axles and Superjoints in my waggy 44 frontend........LIKE the Superjoints, they break the chromo shafts ,you pick em up outts the trail clean em up,get new caps at $8.00 a piece with o-rings , cram em in new axles.

I went thru so many Yukon chromos Randys said no more swappin brokuns,,,so I like runnin stock inner & outer shafts WITH the Yukon Superjoints,,,welderin the hell outts the caps, the fill em full of that copper stinky grease & wheel em till the break :****:

AND I,ve also found that runnin stock inners & outers with 297's with the caps fully weldered up last a good while too,,,,but my rig is light with a 4cyl and 38s :dunno:

Hell just go on and get some rcv's! And you'll never have to worry about an axle or ujoint breaking!

Yeah after having a few issues out of Yukon's and spicers I switched to RCV's and they're just awesome. Several problems with jointed shafts.. caps can crack which we all know what that quickly leads to, yoke ears can start to get a little out of round over time.. then C-clip's don't stay seated, caps spread ears spread etc etc. Honestly my favorite thing about the RCV's is they spin smoothly regardless of steering angle. I use to hate watching my tire bounce when I'd steer while working on a hard spot. Now it's just butter. Sit back and let it eat
