• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

spool or Detroit

Spool all the way. More bang for your buck. And do you really ever plan on going with cutting breaks or any of that ****? If so then go ARB. But for the money my vote is for the spool.

Detoit. Whats a couple hundred dollars over the years you will be enjoying your sami? It will be worth it to not always be scrubbing tires, off road and on - unless you want to. :redneck:

Welding it's cheap, so do it now and see how you like it. You can always yank it out and put a detroit in it later if you want or as $$ allows.

I honestly don't know if the spool kills my turning radius much compared to a detroit, since I have never run a detroit in the rear, but the front tires hitting the springs and killing my steering radius. When I spooled the race truck I don't think I noticed much difference.

It would be fun to find someone with a rear ARB and do a little testing, see how much a rear 'spool' really does effect turning in various terrain.

If I can drag a Scout through many of Reider's trails with a rear spool and not tag many trees, Crusty in his heep and you in your Sammy should have no issue :flipoff:

Sound's like a good test for the gathering on the 4th don't you think:awesomework:

For NW wheelin you can't go wrong with either.

If you can afford the extra dollars get the detroit.

Cutting brakes, line locks and all the rest of that rock buggy comp **** on a trail rig is complete BS

No way dude, more levers and knobs is more fun :D

You wouldn't put front wheel drive in the same category? I dunno why you'd want to be able to do only mediocre front digs...

:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

Any one know about Sierra gear and axle .Are they any good?West coast differential sells that brand. They are made in Italy instead of India like Yukon gear.

The 9" housing does not have a drain plug. Is it worth the effort to weld one in or if I need to change the fluid remove the pinion housing?

Sierra Gear has a good reputation. There are a few builders I know that won't use anything else.
