I use Sharbuilder.com it is $10 bucks per trade so try to make atleast $500 trades at a time. You can use ETrade and many others. Pretty easy stuff.

Invest 10% minimum in your 401k at work and you should be fine for retirement. Do that and use the cash for a down payment on another house in a few months once the dust settles.

DO NOT PAY A STOCK BROKER because they dont care if you make money becuase you are paying them either way. Just my .02 cents :****:

Extremetownie, I was not trying to bash on you. I read it again and it kind of came off that way. I just sit in a class room everday with a bunch of guys that believe your money should go under your mattress instead of in a 401k and it gets me riled up.

Cramer is a smart guy. Had made some dumb mistakes in the past and got called out big time on the Colbert Report but overall seems to give good info and doesnt make it boring as hell.

Now the quote about the stock broker is a little misconstrued. If you are investing larger amount of money and/or want actual good info from someone who is in the world everday then you need a broker. I can tell you my father loses sleep at night when his clients loose money. He invests in pretty much the same things they do and his philosophy is that he will never give advice to anyone he wouldnt take himself. Just look out for the guys who claim to know it all or want to promise you huge returns. In the last few years especially brokers have been **** on too. The market takes a turn and everyone is down 30-50%, well a conservative broker who had made good decisions may only have his clients down 15-20%...guess what...his clients are still pissed they lost money. No one gives a rip at the potential of lost funds, all they care about is they lost money and its the brokers fault. Know who your talking to and dont think of the guy as a machine but as someone you need to talk to and learn from. Just my biased opinion :driving:

I am just pointing out that no one cares about your money as much as you do :spin:. So do your own research and do it yourself. I am a small time investor so I cannot comment on huge investments.

Oh I forgot to mention I did the day trading nonsense and made a couple thousand real quick but come tax time it bit me in the ass and short term capital gains hosed me.. wasn't even worth it!!!! :-(

Be a Bear or be a Bull, just don't be a Hog. Hogs are raised to slaughter!!! :****:
