bought the rig a month ago.went out twice and realized it needed a little work.so went to trail gear and started orderin.kinda gay,but a good way to get started.very complete kits, and a good way to get an education on building a wheeler.so i went from an ifs with 33's,and this is where its at right now.got the front and rear all tacked in place.spooled in the back detroit in the front chrome molly axles and 30 spline birfields.need a trans case to finish runnin gear.

You need to move those front shackle hangers in the frame forward....angle of the shackle's going the wrong way...not to mention it'll get the tapeworm outta the Runner's azz....

lol ya your shackle angle is way off, for a few reasons one is your springs look to be brand new, once worn in the shackle angle will get much mo betta:awesomework:

what size springs are those and how far forward is the hanger sticking past the frame in the center of the hanger?

nice runner

My guess is its a 5" kit and the hanger appears to be about an inch forward of the frame.... If it is the 5" kit, you're in luck. Remove a leaf or 2 and it will lower the ride height about an inch or so and get the shackle close to where it needs to be PRIOR to settling. Once it settles, it should be perfect.

Just did a SAS on my friends 92 p/up and went as far forward on the frame tubes and flush on front hanger and still got no shackle angle on All Pro 4" springs. Once the springs settle, he should have close to perfect shackle angle.

ya i would not recommend removing a leaf or two one maybe but not two, or your springs will be fawked, just ask me how i no:fawkdancesmiley:

I say find a nice set of whoops and go 55mph over them over and over again til they settle.:haha:

chuck you can build race bikes all day long. But you do relize building this that its gonna get dirty and not be near as fast as the mustang. Just dont let cameron touch it and youll be ok. Your progress looks good and I hope to wheel with you soon.

thanx for the advice, the springs are brand new.they are 4" springs, the front hangers are set forward 3/4" per manufactures recomendations.I hope they will settle,if not maybe a longer spring.dont really want to cut it all apart.

not to hot on that idea since the holes have been cut and the lugs welded into place.maybe change front hanger location or go with a little longer spring.thanx for the advice.

who might this be?

if you remove a leaf remove the bottom leaf,

or take the shocks off and go romp on it, trust me this works great, just ask me how i no:awesomework:

also no way you can cut into your frame and relocate your shackle hanger... i mean you could, but defanitly not a good idea, take your shocks off and go romp on it, if that doesnt work well enough take the bottom leaf out and it will be golden,

i originally had 5in TG springs on the front of my rig, when i first swapped it, i moved the spring hanger .5 in forward from the front of the frame rails, i took two leafs out of the pack because i didn't like how high the truck sat, Chris G told me this would be ok, springs didn't last a month,

they warrentied them. for a 3in pair told me not to take more then one leaf out if any

still running the 3in springs with one spring removed, i had a terrible shackle angle like your when i switched to the 3in springs because they are something like 2in shorter then the 5in, anywho

drove around for a week or so with no shocks and walla, worked like a charm:cool:

If your shackles dont lock on the frame when you jack up the front off the ground then leave it alone. TG springs will last way longer if the shackle doesnt have so much angle/leverage on it (straight up and down, not angled back at ride height.

I know you guys like your shackle laid back for better flex, but unless running an OEM spring your ****ed. The after market springs just dont last long with a laid back shackle putting a ton of flattening out that main leaf.

thanx for the advice.like i said earlier i could cut the front back off and move it back but i like the position of the front axle on account of clearance issues with the firewall.once again thanx for the input

im just competed the same tg lift as you but 3" my shackles are out of wack also and way to tall. i took out the bottom 2 in front and the bottom 1 and the 3rd in the rear. ill take it out 1 or 2 time and let the springs settle a bit and put the springs back in and wheel some more. should be good by then. im also in snoqualmie we should hook up

straight straight axle

well thanx for the input from you out there.i decided to remove a leaf spring from the front,it dropped it about 2"!.helped a lot with the shackle angle.so i think i'll start out here.probably add the leaf back when it settles.had some clearence problems with the back of the rear wheel wells.more cuttin.got all of my doubler parts and 4.70's.assembled that on sunday.installed today with new skid plate/crossmember.now i need to set rear pinion angle and have d-lines made.gonna move shock towers up another half inch finish welding those do brake lines add fluids, and go put her on her top.
