Lately on my CTD when I start the truck I get a strong sulphur smell. I can smell it outside and in the cab for a few minutes. Never noticed it before so I can't say it's normal. So any ideas??

maybe you have a bad battery? see if it is getting hot when starting?

My Duramax did that a year or so ago. Ended up being one of the batteries taking a dump.

Two new batteries and it was starting better (didn't notice it having an issue, but noticed a difference afterwards) and no more smell.

Cashed out the bad battery, and kept the other for another rig.

I had that happen once when my regulator went south and the charging system toasted the battery. We were on vacation and got lucky (the Bat did not explode). It was about ready to pop when they pulled it out of the truck. It would not have lasted to many more miles.

Did you recently do an oil change? Sometimes the Common rails do this right after an oil change.

May want to do some research on one of the Cummins Forums

I guess I should of updated this. After I went out and checked my batteries. I started the vehicle and saw smoke coming from the + battery cable at the terminal. Sure enough that was the sulfur smell. It was burning off the battery corrosion. SO I poured some hot water on it to clean it off and found my cable was damn near cut in half and the wires for the intake heater were complete cut off. So the next day I went to Dodge and ordered a new cable. $ChaChing!!$
