Super 14....Holy Early Product Release

It makes it hard on the middle men . I have been in a pinch a couple times when promised a part to be shipped and wasn't. However good communication with your customers is always a plus in trying to get through those moments. I also would offer full refund when it would happen. I don't like leaving my money hanging out there and don't expect one of my customers to either.

I think some of these companies have a dream and shoot for the stars and still end up on planet earth. Growing too quickly....Isn't always a good thing.

I'm the middle man with ORI. I'm their biggest vendor and 90% of my customers are internet sales. It was rough over the first of the year when I was being told to quote 8 weeks, they shut down to retool and it was 15 weeks later with customers calling me every day. I know they were doing everything in their power to get back online, but it was falling short and there were lots of angry phone calls. I never dodged a call and tried my best to explain to every one of them what was going on and why. For a few that wasn't enough. I also said I would refund if they said the word and that wasn't good enough either, just wanted the product. Mine is unique in the fact that I actually talk to the guy building them and his estimations aren't always a reality when parts don't show up. I'm not getting stories, its just plain hard to throw a dart at a board that big with growing pains like crazy.
Now dealing with other middle men, I've had bad experiences with a couple companies that are just straight up liars. I try not to post those unless it gets bad.

They deserve to be called out on the carpet every chance you get in my opinion. Pirate seems to want to "protect" certain vendors and that is crazy. I don't want anyone I know to spend money with PORC and I want them all to know that if you order from Ballistic or DD Machine only do so if you can wait 3 times longer than they say it will take to get your part.

I just went through this at the bookstore where a publisher kept telling me different stories on when a certain lab manual would be in. I passed on the "good news" to my customers twice before I wised up and took phone numbers to just call them when they arrived and told them I had no idea when that would be. That was the truth and some people just couldn't understand that, but what can you do? In the offroad industry some vendor would have taken their money up front, then ordered the books, and then started making up stories on what was taking so long.

I think all of these guys are scared to death to put a little inventory on the shelf.

I went through this with beadlocks on the old jeep. Bad product, bad vendor, lies, etc. Little bit of everything...

Its like that with almost every revolutionary product from every 4x4 company. Back when ARB announced the rockwell 14-bolt and started taking pre-orders I was really looking forward to them. 2 years and an entire buggy later they finally have them but damn am I glad I didn't preorder!

Come to think of it, I can't recall a super-product release like the ARB rockwell or the Portaltek 14-bolt that came out when and as promised. That's why I don't mess with preordering from ANYONE. If the product isn't on the shelf you just dont' get my money. Hell, even backorder is sketchy.

I must have been lucky when I ordered stuff from Ballistic, NWF, and DD machine...I got my parts within a week of ordering them. now getting ahold of Duffy is a chore in its self, but the product is badass.

I have had my bank handle problems like this for me. I just had to file a complaint with the bank and one with the police, just to prove that I was not tryin to scam the bank about not getting what I payed for and within 24 hrs I had money in the bank. Never heard anything else from it and the bank did not ask any questions.

Still with that bank today.

Thank you so much for this advice!!!!!!

I called my bank yesterday and the lady I deal with wasn't there, but I did talk to another person there about this. She said to come in with copies of all of my paper work and then file a police report and that would get me started in the right direction. I am going to to call back today and see what the rest of the deal is.

I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Rocky ( my salesman ) has tried to call Portal Tech for the past three days straight with no answer. I'm tired of giving them chances, and it looks like I am going to have to take my money back some way.

Not a board basher but I have spent a **** load of money with portal tek nice guys just way in over their heads on this super 14 thing. They can barely keep the portal parts in stock but of course I break it every ride...Just stepped up my game to some 300m alloy shafts and a few other nice pieces and now i have my buggy sold it looks like...
