I have some little questions... Putting TBI ('89 I think) on an older 350, using a TB adapter from a BBC (ebay special).

EGR: How do I not use it? Leave the wiring just disconnected, or do I need to short something out, or what?

Oil Pressure/Fuel pump circuit: I don't really wanna mess with the oil pressure switch, so how do you guys deal with it? What's it even for? Under what conditions would you want fuel pressure if the ECU isn't turning it on?

Oxy Sensor: Is it better to put it past the Y-pipe, or move it closer to the exhaust ports but only on one bank?

Check Engine Light: Will I ever get it to turn off, with no EGR, etc.? Does anybody actually plug it in at all?

I'll think of more I'm sure.........

Be ready to get a stock tbi intake..

Played that game before :;
(Don't be shocked when you have goofy idle surging)

Keep the gr un plugged. But be ready for a code 32 to set, but you aLSO MIGHT have a code 24 also setting...

The oil pressure swtich acts like a bypass for the fuel pump relay. Just leave it unplugged and the stock relay will still control the pump.

Depending on what o2 you are runing will depend on where it goes. On my swaps I always upgrade the o2 to a heated one so the system will go into closed loop quicker. But if its a one wire you will need to keep it as close to the heat source as possable.

Yeah I remember, but this is a factory spread bore manifold... Hoping it behaves different.

Ooohh... It's a backup for the relay?? Sheesh...

OK, well I have a single wire, which I kindof assumed I would replace anyway. Pre-heated just needs an ignition-hot wire added right? That's the way I'd prefer to go.

yup--you got it....

Had a tech that tried to argu with me that the engine would die if the engine lost oil pressure. Told him he was full of crap. Grabbed the wiring schematic and plopped it down. He walked away mumbling :haha: :haha:

And the funny part is-on the later tbi setups if that circuit didn't work it would set a code 54 :haha: :haha:

I ASSumed that's what it was for, but the schematic seems to dissagree :haha:

I didn't think the stock TBI intake manifolds will bolt to his heads?

have a read here ...

really good tech here too ...
http://www.diy-efi.org/gmecm/papers/tunetip.html

This hardware looks to be the ticket nowadays (Ostrich and/or AutoProm)

(I've just happened to have been doing a lot of research recently on getting into the "tuner" world when it comes to TBI based SBC's).

To answer your question, I'm guessing you'll be burning a chip , so when you do so, simply turn off the EGR check (and you won't get the code).

That depends on what ecm you have. Some ecms there is no coding/programs to burn proms for...

What's the third wire for? Ground? Which wire is which in the plug?

Ground/signal/voltage

Can you look at the wire colors and the plug terminal letering (should be A B C )

A= yellow
B= black
C= grey

B is the middle on the plug.
So which is which?
