TBI Question

Be ready to get a stock tbi intake..

Played that game before :;
(Don't be shocked when you have goofy idle surging)
Runs great :flipoff:

Can't drive it yet, but it runs well under no load at any RPM, and under hard revving. Wooooooooooo :cheer: :D :D

You have to have a special prom burned--you don't reburn stock proms...

On that system you do, I do it all the time...............The goofy idle you refer to is usually caused be the proportional gains settings being off in the prom, the manifold swap back to TBI just changes the characteristics of the engine back to where it matches the prom more closely.

Is there a way to tell the ECU to bump the target idle RPM, like maybe an AC trigger wire or something? And can the AC target RPM be modified on the chip? This would be really useful for the onboard air.

Rick, what sort of equipment do you have, as far as burner and eraser goes?

Are those the only two things I need to read and burn chips?

Yes in a nutshell that's all you would need. If you were to change the type of chip you use you could get away from the UV eraser too. I also use a emulator and wide band O2 setup to make things easier but it's not necessary. You will need though a ALDL cable to read data from your ECM in order to make adjustments and of course the lap top to hook it too. Lots of good stuff here.

I bought a cable from these guys.

Also, if you buy a burner make sure it's compatible with the chip you use, the burner that Moates sells will not burn your stock chip.
