Read up on it on the website a bit, bout $160 to enter but what is payout? I don't expect to finish well just curious. Is a fire suit required? Just looking for what to expect tossing the idea around of racing April 20th.

Think its 120 to race, 20 for a passenger, plus a gate fee so around 160 I would say is right, its a blast, no fire suit but must have doors, 4 point harness, fire extinguisher etc, Think top payout is $500 plus some contigency if you win that as well, we won the class two first race at SL and got $300 cash, $300 in LED light contigency, its like most other racing, not a money maker but a great group of racers and some really competitive racing, give it a try!

must have doors without slam latches for 2013 is what i have heard

You sure about that? Just read the rules and it doesn't say anything about that. Just says you have to have doors.

Budget YJ, Alan Clark, has been racing since it started. I also raced the first season at Durhamtown and it was the most fun ive had in a sxs. We finished 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 1st every race we ran in 800 S RZRs. The 800 and 570 seem to really do well because all you have to do is hold it to the floor for 4hrs. The faster machines require a little more control and skill to keep up. From what ive seen at stoney and windrock, they really dont have many jumps and thats what i liked most about racing at Durhamtown. I plan to go the next race at stoneylonesome, should be a good time and a big turnout!

You gonna run that Arctic Cat?

We raced one a few weeks ago at Stoney. It was real fast, average speed about 65mph. But you were basically dirt road racing. It was fun but not wha I expected.

That's not what I expected either, from the markers it looked like it was a lot of tight woods racing which is what I would enjoy. My rzr doesn't act like it wants any more than about 60mph top speed

Average speeds are around 30-40 mph.
I just got off the phone with the owner of the series and we are working on something big that i think all the racers will like!

something i read on rzrforums...

Well the Stoney course the av. Speed was definitely not 30mph. One of the guys who organizes the race said he won't rave Stoney is his buggy because he was clocked at 120mph at one point in the race and it was just too fast of a course. His buggy obviously did not have the stock motor in it but just goes to show that try are fast. Racing at night was cool. We used stock headlights and a LED helmet light we use for dirtbike helmets and a helmet light is the way to go. As soon as the sun went Down we actually got a lot faster. With the helmet light you can look at what you want and not what your rig is pointed at.

molaugh
14:32 was the fastest time posted on their site. For a 9 mile course, that doesnt equal a 65mph avg time... thats 37.24 mph avg...
And that was the fastest guy on the course.

What are you doing bringing math and logic into this? I thought speed and horsepower discussions were based on nothing but ego and opinion! LOL

Ok 30mph it is. Go race one at Stoney and then tell me you rode around at 30 mph.

I'm wondering who he called for the math help. :dunno:

LMAO!!!!!
Frogg is correct tho.
Nobody at any race there I've been to is running 120mph.
I run a rzr xp and not scared to mash my motor! lol
Here is a screen shot of my gps app I run while racing.
The ave on mine is off a little b/c I start it before the race starts while I'm buckling up.
That time at 0mph is included in the ave.

You will love it and the 800 will do great.
Your 800 is a S so you will be in class QR2.

You can run factory nets or aftermarket doors.
You will need a horn, dot helmet with eye protection, fire extinguisher with quick release mount within driver reach and I think they require harnesses this year.

Gilbert Designs is working on some steel framed doors that'll hold up to a rollover (since I'm gravity challenged) so all I'm lacking is a horn and mirror. Air horns count or do I need to wire something up?
