I just put a th350 in my cruiser and before i ran it i also installed a full manual reverse valve body. all the forward gears get some, but reverse slips for a bit and then kicks in all the way. does anyone have any ideas

Is this a fresh rebuilt th350, or used? And if used, did it slip before the RMVB install???

I'd lean toward a problem with the RMVB install, and if you are confident that all got put together properly; check the modulator, or the reverse servo may be stuck--I've read there can be some issues with it....If that all checks ok, then your trans is probably pissed as JAWS said...If it felt ok before, it might be the added demand of flow the new VB makes is revealing an issue with the trans you may not otherwise notice in stock form....make sense????

the modulator gets thrown out after the new vb since every gear becomes manual shift. how do you go about checking the servo?

i'm pretty disappointed in the responses i've got. I thought with the amount of people on here someone would have useful advice. Pretty sad that the best advice is the tranny is pissed, Thanks for pointing that out Casey. You shouldn't have sold me those 42" tsl's and then i wouldn't have a pissed tranny.

Thats so weird it worked fine before. Ok i know what you need to do. You go to cabelas and buy two ores and swivle or mounts and when reverse is needed you simply row yourself backwards. If you take my advice jeff remember to allways drive in atleast a foot or two of water. Call me if you end up needing a new trans.

Something we have seen a number of times on the low/reverse piston is the square lip seal. Its possable its leaking till enough pressure builds and engages the clutch pack.
