Reason the trail was closed!
because it is state park land adjoining DNR land. the state land is designated as a "official climbing area". people have been throwing stuff off the lookout and climbers have been hit with things like beer bottles and vehicle bumpers...
the DNR land is not "officially designated as ORV use" so if push came to shove the state could force DNR to shut the entire area down. we the ORV community do not want the attention that would be created if the two agencies had to go to battle the state parks would wiin hands down.
so as said earlier on in this thread we the users (mostly mike) stepped in and worked with the agencies involved and worked out a solution we could all live with at an RTW meeting.
again it is sad to lose some of the funnest part of that trail but better than the only other option which would be the entire trail and maybe even the entire area.
