Whrere is the Cheese

Take 410 over Crystal Mountain turn left at Little Naches Road (Road 19) and have fun. It is around a half hour maybe forty five minutes from Yakima. The pics were from Funny Rocks, Moon Rocks, and Ravens Roost. There were a few mixed in from an Evans Creek trip.

dont want to be a party pooper here but isnt ravens roost closed because of those mud holes and the high power wires that are no longer buried under those mud holes?

i could be wrong here but i seem to remember a thread about that particular area being closed??? anyone got the skinny on this?

Technically it is not closed...

There is a good faith understanding that upper Ravens Roost or the "POWER LINES" trail is un-officially closed though...

The Forest Service has been working on trying to get the official paper work done to close the trail for the past two seasons of wheeling. I agree with the closure 100%. The danger level is just too high...

What is prompting the closure...and what people don't realize is that there are very, very HIGH VOLTAGE bundles under the trail...hence the name "POWER LINE" trail...In numorous parts of the trail the holes and bogs have exposed the bundles...

It would be appreciated if once you learn of the "un-official" closure that you do what you can to stay of the trail...and spread the word. It will help our cause more than anything if we respect the Forest Service's wish.

Ravens Roost

We only ran the lower part, so is that soon to be closed or is it okay? It was fun, and I am heading back up in a few weeks, so if it is good to go I would like to hit it again

Hey H.O.S. I bought your mini trail 50 a while back :beer: We'll be up there the 15-17. Are you still heading up for the Pirate IH run? I have Scout axles does that count? :redneck:

If anyone else has some info on the lower part please let us know.

Those were exposed back in 1997 when I led trails at the jamboree...and ravens roost was one of the official runs for that weekend. So how likely is a break in the protective covering on these wires if it hasn't happened in 10 years of wheeling?

Also, aren't these lines just to power the repeater antennae at the top of the hill?
