Thought of something earlier... if you are looking at 01+ trucks, don't be afraid of the 4 cylinder ones.. the newer twin cam 2.3 is a larger version of the 2.0 ztec they use in the Focus, and makes quite adequate power for a std cab short bed truck. More then the older 2.3.

This is what I picked up today.

1999 Mazda B3000, 5sp, 87,000...4dr cab plus, loaded, canopy, etc. Nice truck. Should make for a better start than what I had even though it's only a 3.0litre.
