Sure everyone has their own ideas. Some based on size. I have mine in a soft sided bag that fits behind the seat in the Solo Buggy.

I carry:

Tire plugs
Tire plug glue
Tire plug tool
Lighter
Allen Wrenches
Needle nose vice grips (to clamp off broken brake line)
Small vice grips
Large vice grips
Sockets from 1/4 to 3/4
Ratchet, 3" & 6" extensions
Open end/ box end wrenches 1/4 to 3/4, plus 10mm.
Hammer
Regular screwdriver
Phillips Screwdriver
ARB air line - 10'
ARB union repair kit
ARB air switch
Wire - 15'
Wire crimp tool
Fuses
Wire connectors and terminals
Fuel filter
Fuel Pump
Wire ties
Electrical tape
Side cutter pliers
Channel lock pliers
Adjustable wrench
Air hose with air chuck
Air gauge
Air blow off tool
Clevis
Hydraulic fittings
Assembly lube
Mirror on stick
Magnet on stick
Coilover spanner
Pocket knife
Bolts, nuts, washers, lock washers in 1/4", 5/16", and 3/8"
Lokar transmission fill tube adapter

I do not carry a tree saver of strap as I have rope on winch.

Thought this would be thought provoking for what to carry. What do you carry not on my list??

Shitter paper!

John, your list is awesome.

Most people do not have room for this, but I also carry a 1-2 gallon bug/weed sprayer with me. I fill it with clean water when I leave the house and with it I can: wash a muddy windsheild or windows, get mud off the cooling fins of the radiator/trans cooler/ or ps cooler, wash my hands after a trail repair, take a make shift shower, or top off anyone's radiator if necessary. It has saved our ass a few times

Johns bag is not as large as you guys are making it out to be. Its all in how you package it. ;) John go to the garage and take a picture of it next to a 12 pack of soda

Are you saying John has a small sack?

Re:

I've been accused of trying to be Macgyver, but I ALWAYS keep a multitool (Gerber, Leatherman, etc...) with me. Between that and zip ties, I can do some unbelievable African American engineering.

I have been researching this topic for about 2 weeks.
If anyone has pics of the tool bags/organizers post up some pics

Thanks john. I've been trying to figure out where I am going to store everything on my single Seater.
Here is a pretty well organized and labeled bag I saw the other day.
THIS IS NOT MY BAG. But some good ideas

Looks like I can just ride with yall and save room for more beer!

Add spark plugs and old plug wires, never know when that rollover will foul a plug or wire that falls down on your exhaust

I cant keep the bags together!
Craftsman Large Mouth Bags.
I wrap my wrenches, bag by sockets. Stuff the open with rags and full waterbottles to take up the space the tools can rattle or bounce around in. Then cram between my seats.
I replace the bag every single race, granted they are sub-$20, and for that cost, I havent been motivated to build a more durable solution, and I havent lost tools yet...yet...
Since Jan, I'm on my 4th bag, someone got a more durable solution. Exchanged messages with Gary Lawson at C2G Fab about doing some Kydex tool holder deals.
Maybe I need to get on that.

My additions are..
small / mid size pipe wrench in the bag.. good for link bars and there's not much it can't break loose or tighten.
a spare U-joint and U-bolt or 2
spare axle yoke
test light and multi-meter
ratchet strap or 2
mix of first aid stuff just in case
hose clamps, several different sizes
and.. a mini hammock because there's some places I'd rather not leave my rig overnight

I carry a blue point mechanics set.mfits behind my seat. I also carry a box with misc stuff:hammers my long handle snap on ratchet (can't leave it at home) and some u joints for my drive shaft.

How many people still carry a spare tire?

Spare plug wires are now on my list. At Choccolocco last weekend, first time out after 4 link, my rear plug wire (longest one) was dangling and got caught in the steering assembly and ripped into. Luckily Chad had one we was able to make work for the day.

Also - Ratchet straps!!! I carry 2 or 3 with me now. They have saved the day a couple times already. Had a buddy sheer all the bolts off holding his high steer arm to his knuckle at Area 51 and we were able to ratchet strap **** back together to where he could steer just enough to get out of the woods. Also used them to hold my leaf spring together when I broke it last November.

I've actually been looking into buying one of those soft tool bags, I don't have a whole lot of stuff in my rig as of now, just the basics. But I usually have what I need back at the tow rig if I don't have it with me.

Fuses, cheapo emergency kit that includes sockets / thumb wrench / flashlight / razor knife / tape / etc., then a couple pairs of various size vice grips, big folding deer gutting knife for survival situations lolz, tow rope, cheapo first aid kit, full size bath towel, bunch of toilet paper, papertowels, last but not least, cooler full of beer and water! :drinkers:
