This private forum is boring, but comes in handy sometimes. I HAVE A QUESTION!

another though, redesign a smaller watermark. Like John said, you didn't shoot the 38 because of your mark. Offer that as an option to private shoots, use the big girl on general web posting

When I got on Ricky,s web site and looked at my jumpin photos, they had the watermark on them , but when they came to me in the mail........NO WATERMARK :dblthumb:

If you buy them........the watermark COMES OFF ;D

Correct. Which is why I don't really understand johns post. Private shoots are paid, the customer gets all the photo file originals to use any way they want for personal use. I still retain rights to publish the photos as well on my site. They have the option of a public or private album on my site, public has huge watermarks, private if just for them and whoever they tell about it.

Yeah, I get that, I was wondering if he meant sneak peeks on the web were marked or something. Obviously then end consumer has not marks laughing1 laughing1 laughing1

Put the watermark in the corner so it does not **** up the image.

if the person is a big enough jackass to crop out your watermark, I assure you, they were not going to buy from you anyway.

Trying to sell to this group is a running joke. Some will buy, most won't.

I say move the watermark from the middle. I don't like it either.

As stated before you are trying to sell your pictures to the wrong people. Try taking pics of folks who appreciate having nice pics of their rig and will pay for it.

It's difficult to say who my target customers are when it comes to my website. Big money guys do the feature shoots on new rigs, but that's not really here or there with the watermark. They can ask to have little or no markings on the photo in their album honestly. I get a lot of orders from the average joe wheeler wanting prints. I'd say 60% of my print orders are of people I don't know or barely know.

Who would pay for a picture if you can right-click, save as, and print at walmart? That's what you could do without a big watermark "ruining" the photo. Losing lots of $$ that way. Then I would have no reason to shoot at rides, just strictly private shoots.

I already have a new idea for watermarking, same idea I've had for months. The feature shoot I did this weekend will get the new one, should be a good compromise.

The pictures you post should be low res. I bet nobody buys 3x5 prints. if the quality dropped out so you could not get a good print 4x6 or larger, that should do what you want. Don't post high res. photos.

good point... ricky, are you listening... you have two of the best minds on the internet giving you ideas, i cant speak for anyone besides myself and john g... :flipoff1:

I think you should make the water mark bigger, plus low res photo and make it thumb nail size and lock it. If they want to see a better pic of there rig then have them go on your site and pay a fee to view the picture. Then pay another fee to order the picture. If they want to talk to you over the phone, Get a 900 # and charge them for the conversation.
You need to make people think your in high demand. never answer the phone. Always return a message 2 days later. Then tell them your busy and put them on hold, or that you'll call back in a couple of days.
Never have a conversation with people out on the trail for more than 30 seconds, and always cut them off in the middle of the conversation and tell them you have to go, your needed else where.

Don't listen to Dragbody, he can't even get up primos and he used to build low riders.

I'm listening to all the feedback. I'll have a new watermark in the next few days. Lots of trial and error right now.

The new one by far. However, you need to add RickyBPhotography.com under it. Many of your customers will not recognize your logo. At least not in the beginning. You dont want to loose business because they do not know who to order from.

I think he means the rig, and yeah it looks very odd to me. Nice parts, but the lines are out there and holy shock hoops batman. On the watermark, take John's feedback. That camera logo is pointless, it needs to be branded.

the camera is made out of an RBP... but i agree to add rickybphotography.com under that in very plain print so it is easy to read...

I love the watermark. Add your name in small print under.

Rig is another ****ing abortion. I can't see how the hell these builders keep getting top dollar for these things.

Of course, I am only saying this in the semi-private forum. I don't have the energy to post it anywhere else.
