Tire siping

siping helps traction. case closed.
siping soft tires leads to chunking. case closed.

what do you value more....? traction/tread life

ok so does anyone know a place first hand that does a good job at siping? i live in north seattle, but am willing to travel if its gonna be a great job

Siping will definately give you better traction on and off road but will also make the tires wear faster. If it's not a frequent road warrior I would cut em up. Then when you snow wheel them air them down, WAY DOWN.:awesomework:

15 is what I run on the street....
However bias ply tires are a bit stiffer...

Like Jonathan said it depends on your tire wheel combo. If this is for a wheeler I would make it a priority to get some beadlocks. Depending on your combo it may be a option to modify the wheels untill you can get beadlocks. Search for my name or scoutaholic on pirate to read more.

i ran about 10 in my mud terrains last weekend in the snow. i can get by on 12-13 psi for normal wheeling. but i know for a fact that i can go much lower, since by the time i got back down to bunk foss road my right rear tire only had about a pound in it.

As stated earlier, it really does depend on the tire and wheel combo.
When I ran 33's I had TSL's on 10" rims. I ran them at 6 PSI all the time and only lost a bead once (in 5 years). When I had 35" boggers on the same rims, I ran 5 PSI and never lost a bead. However, some of the guys I ran with had very similar combinations, ran the same pressure and lost beads all the time. Wheel design & MFG make a huge difference.
