To Cover or NOT to cover (BOATSIDES)

We have a winner.....

i made a new design last week that mimics the BTF link tab that can be seen in the pics....

the 1/4" aluminum will be the shape of the boatside and extend out to have 2 main mounts where the links mount....then, i will have a couple of tabs on the lower side of it and will peobably run a tube or two in there this weekend....

hey trevro, don't you worry...i can still be welding on it this weekend while you are sanding on that mofo....

I agree with Adam....lay some more supporting tubes in there for some backbone.


We lay down .100" Al followed by the plastic with countersunk hardware. Everything is removable.
Of course our chassis has quite a few more tubes in that area.

Use a corner rounding bit on a router or in a mill if you have one to smooth out the edges of the plastic. We also use black instead of the natural/white plastic. I like the looks of it better...doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.
