Before I read your comment, I chuckled at the jerked off comment too.

I am going to run steel cable on my winch at first......what is the best method do keeping it from hurting/killing someone? I have seen blankets draped across the cable but IDK what's best. Once I get some monies together, I will get some rope that doesn't store energy, until then....

I use to use 2 tennis balls filled with silicone tie together with a PC of rope. Wraps it around couple times and ur good to go. Plus doesn't take up a lot of room either.

I had a bumper rip off on an old Jeep while trying to snatch it outta the mud 10 years ago, looked like a sling shot with a stone in it, the bumper weighed at least 75lbs , woulda killed someone instantly had they been standing there
