Need to assemble my front axle finally! With new steering arms and 25mm pin upgrade I need to set the alignment. Can I do this without buying the kit from Marlin? Or is there somebody that can do it for cheaper than buying the kit? Or can I make my own kit?

Thanks,
Landon

Man you guys are over thinking it. Put shims in till it feels right and run it. I've never had any issues with mine doing it this way.

Agreed... never used a stupid tool and never had any problems. Don't over think a simple thing. Tools are for tools :redneck:

I'm new to toy axles, obviously, but what is the purpose of the shims? To keep pressure off of the trunion bearings?

Tapered bearings need preload to spread the load evenly. Shims adjust the preload and are used to center the knuckle relative to the housing. :awesomework:
