Toyota based buggys

:hi: Even a formula toyota takes a while to build!!! it took me about 3 months just from sawzalling the body to having it running again, and i still have a lot of stuff to do to it untill it's done to my final specs...:awesomework:

Are they ever really done? Didn't think so. :redneck:

Good input. My **** is going up for sale real soon and i've already started collecting parts to do it all at once, once i find the right rig/buggy to start with...

I like it. And it does pretty good considering its damn near stock. But i want something more capable. I added up the price of 5.29s, lockers, dual cases, blah, blah, etc... and the amount of $$$ gets out of control real quick. I even talked to Mr. Crash about doing some work because i'm not a skilled faber.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not apposed to spending money on a hobby such as wheel'n. But when i finally do lay down a good hunk of change i want to be damn sure I do it right the first time...

Buy one thats done like I just did and make what ever changes to it you want. Its way cheaper and your wheeling now !

This is pretty much my plan.
Even if i have to spend more for something with dana 60s, Its probably a better investment + piece of mind knowing I'll never have to upgrade...

Rather that putting 5.29s and air lockers in toyota axles, then a year later wishing i had something else...

Without the fab equipment/ability it is definately best to buy one that is pretty much what you want then modify to your taste and be done. Personally I like the fabwork and like to know every little thing about the rig might have to work on on the trail at the most in-opertune time of course.

Keep us posted on your plans and accomplishments Zig. Mines up and runnin BTW, runnin quite well too. see my "Pines" thread in the trails? check it out. :awesomework:

Maybe it is the driver that needs the mods to make it go more places. :fawkdancesmiley: :fawkdancesmiley: :; Just kiddin

I almost bought at auction a 2004 toyota tacoma with 34,000 miles, 2.7L, manual trans 4x4...
I bid up to 5,300 then let it go to some other guy for 5,400. But you never know how high other people are willing to go...
Anyways, it was an insurance total. The bed of the truck was crunched and the back of the cab was pushed in just a little, not bad though. Both doors opened just fine and the back window worked fine. Was a perfect rig to start a serious build.
