toyota oil filters?

I thought Wix and Napa were the same, just different paint. I have also heard that Wix is made by Dana.

I know Fram and Pennzoil are the same.

Yep. Wix, Napa, Carquest, and Pro tec are the same.

The point here is you don't have to run a Expensive toyota filter on your toy.

DB if your getting noise on startup something else may be wrong. some are quick to blame the filter but if you keep up on regular oil changes it shouldn't be a problem. 25k on the motor?

I change the oil in my rigs frequently. after every wheelin trip on my trail rig and once a month on my DD, the wifes firebird gets synthetic and changed at 1500 mile intervals. :D

ya, its a daily driver, oil changes every 2500-3k miles, i use castrol gtx in the 10w40 flavor. used to use wix, now i am using the denso filters, at least for this and the next oil change. i do tend to rev the piss out of it, and i drive it pretty hard.

I use 20W50 in my motor. '91 22RE with 192k. Keeps it from burning so much...

I don't change my oil very often. I know I should try to shorten the intervals, but I had, in the last couple of years, went over 25k between oil changes.

Is that bad? :D

id say your doing alright

15w40 DELO with a quart of lucas should slow the burn :D

If your gonna stretch your intervals use a quality 15w40. my S-10 eats a quart of oil every tank of gas and blows smoke 007 style without the lucas in there.

Ive had this discussion numerous times, and Im glad someone finally got pictures for proof. Ive been running Napa Gold filters for a while, as in the entire life of my motor. Purolator filters are decent too.

There is an on going joke around the shop about 10w40. all the old timers want it and so do the mexicans. The old guys want it because they are stuck in thier ways and too stupid to change and the mexicans just think that 40 is better than 30. Really it's worthless. If you feel the need to run a higer viscosity oil than normal look to the 15w40 or 5w40 Diesel certified oils. they are much more suited to the longer drain intervals and off road operation most trail rigs see.

At ~$2.50 a piece? Oh well. Guess I'm a for not being a scrooge.
