Next RROCK event is Aug23
I just ordered an output shaft from Longfield, it should arrive early next week.

I'll get the t-case down this weekend
install shaft next week
re-install case next weekend

How hard is the output shaft swap?
Anything that I might run into to slow it down?

Should I pull the whole 2nd case down or can I get away with just pulling the rear 4wd part?

Any good writeups that you can link me to? I like pictures

snap ring is a bitch, other than that it's all lego's....

and you're allowing yourself too much time to tear down and put back together.... should take 1 night as long as u don't run outta beer.

I gots them special marlin snap ring pliers - will they help?

figure I'll tear it down in a night, put it back in another night since I won't have the parts.

I've got a fully belly skid and tunnel work to get a flat bottom so it's a bit tighter up there than normal

pulled the skid, shifters, d-shafts and drain plugs last night

Oil looked good and clean!

Thanks for the offer techta - I'll let you know if I need anything

Now the question of what oil and how much. I can't use the fill plugs so I go thru the shifters and alway forget what I put in it last.
My tranny guy has me running motor oil in the transmission - it did funny things with gear oil in it. I think he suggested the same for the t-cases. What do you guys use and how much of it in the crawl box and how much in the t-case

I run 5w-30 in my Transfercase on my Duramax. But still running ATF in all Tranny's and Atlas.

Gear oil. Filled through the rear case it will flow into the front one IIRC I used 2.5-3 qts dry. Less if the crawler is not removed/drained.

X2

Gear oil and I think it's like 2 quarts for the rear case, 1 qt for the front case... that's what I put in.. Big Jim told me that's about what's right but I dunno.. I guess it could be wrong I AM gullible laughing1

It's either 5w-30 or ATF in the trans now

I was kinda skeptical when I first heard of switching, but I can tell you now than my transfer case breathed a sigh of relief when it got the 5w-30.

in the past i would use gear lube 80/90 (1 in F 2.5 R)
i just started to use motor oil 5/30 it works good to date !
it seems to hold in gear better (not kick out)

Thanks for the tip, I might try that.

I think I should switch my buggy's 205 over to ATF so it'll shift easier

I was skeptical too, but thought I'd give it a shot
